Arrow 1909 US Geological Survey Map

Here is a beautiful 1909 map from USGS that has been stitched together from four scans.
It is amazing when you consider they were able to draw this without the aid of a computer!
USGS Quadrangles of Winnipesaukee 1909 & 1956

Default interesting!

Do you know of anyway of copying that great chart? I'd love to put it up on the wall and look for houses that are still standing, railroads long forgotten, etc.

Hi Meredith Necker:
You can order them on line. Here's the town by town link from the web page RG posted above. click for map order link I have one of my little neck of the lake framed in my camp that I refer to all the time. Instead of glass I used a lightweight plastic so it is easy to take down and plunk on the table for easier reference. Their web page contains hints on how to print these maps. see this link for printing You may also order maps, aerial views and satellite views from the United States Geological Survey. A most interesting and useful website. click for USGS

I have just ordered an 18" x 24" copy from dotPhoto for $20.14, including shipping. I'll let you know how well it comes out. This company is reasonably priced, quick to ship and good quality. Though the largest print I have ordered has been 8" x 10". It is very convenient to upload and order from home. The fold marks that are showing up in the image are from the original map.
(Was going to include the link, but it keeps bringing me to my personal sign in information. That just won't do.) dotphoto.com

Dot Photo did a great job on my poster and the price was quite reasonable.

Default Typo?

It looks as though Rum Point is listed as "Rim Pt"...

Default Map as File Attachment

R-Gal: Any chance of posting, or e-mailing me, a .pdf file of this map so I could print it out on a large printer (i.e., 24" wide)? Thank you.

Default right click save as

Just right-click and choose save as to save it. This image is almost 9MB and will print at 27X37 inches according to its specs.

Emailing an image that large might choke your mail system.
