Default Last Boating Day - 2014

Today will be our last day out on the lake this year (unless of course we decide to cruise on the Mt.!)

What a wonderful year it has been and I have greatly enjoyed this forum (quirky direction of threads and all)

Thanks for answers to my dumb questions after 30 years away and thanks also to the courteous boaters we encountered (you know who you are!)

Due to the "draw down" I only saw 2 boats on Winnisquam in the past three days. Right now it is beautiful, the lake is like glass. Went for a nice kayak this afternoon. Neat to see the waterfront with the level down almost 2'.

...the Mount has some twoferonefer price deal going on now or something? ...so two can go for $20, as opposed to $40.....plus you get to see around the lake from higher on up in height above the water, and eating a cheeseburger!

....yesterday's Monday weather was super-duper with a relatively big number of boats on the water....not just the construction barges but boaters taking a last cruise or something?....seems like the wet and dank June-July-Aug shifted to a much dryer Sept & Oct. The last week of August was the best week of the whole summer!

Default Thought I'd share this shot

from my last ride Saturday evening with a few friends. It wasn't on my boat, but that didn't matter as it was an absolutely beautiful ride and an incredible sunset. I hope you enjoy

exiting on the Moultonboro side. It was an awesome view, even the picture doesn't do it justice.

VitaBene, I bought a slightly used baja. My Sundancer which I loved has to go. Since I had to have surgery on my back twice in seven months it's too much for me and my daughter to handle by ourselves. Don't want to end up a story on ramp horror stories. Rob

Great Rob, Bajas ride the lake well!

Today was my last ride of the year, Ambrose Cove thru the Graveyard, the Hole in the Wall, out into the broads and back in thru the "barbers pole" and back. Saw a few bass boats, but not much else.

Boat is out and bottom cleaned and washed... when is ice out?

Default to quote john belushi...

"Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is!"

Saturday was a gorgeous day out on the lake, not too many boats out, but there were a few hardy souls taking advantage of the good weather!

"Flashed" the Mount Saturday night on her last cruise of the season for Halloween, and will look forward to greeting her in the spring on the shakedown

Sunday weather was a bit iffy... but still a number of boats out on the water, and Y-Landing was busy servicing and pulling boats...

We're here till ice-in

We have good friends who moved down to Georgia about 6-7 years ago, but the year before they moved, we did not have anyone coming to our house for Thanksgiving and neither did they. We played a ton of golf together, and we called Pheasant Ridge on the Wednesday, and they said they would be open on Thanksgiving.

We met around 1000 or so and played 18 holes of golf. Then we went to their house, drank some wine and some beer, had a turkey breast with all the fixings, and talked about how this was a Thanksgiving to remember, and give thanks for.

Back to boating on Thanksgiving... Hope you will be able to pull it off.

Default Boat on Paugus Bay This Morning

Couldn't believe my eyes! Looked out at the lake and there was a boat cruising down Paugus Bay headed toward the Margate. It turned and headed into Irwins/Lakeport. This was about 9:30 this morning! Gotta love it! Was that you Broadhopper?

Default Wsan't me

But I am planning on a cruise to Woleboro this afternoon. Gotta keep those horses exercised!

A bunch of us are planning a 'turkey trot' this weekend. It looks like a Saturday Morning run from the Weirs Dock to possibly Alton or Wolfeboro for breakfast, then back. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to join the 'WinniLakers'. Yes! We are not dead yet!

Default Sorry

The snow 'rained' on my parade! I for one had to deal with power outage. I think a few did show up at the Weirs public dock?
