Default Curious about the old church on Main St in Alton

Does anyone know where a person might be able to find some history about the old church on Main St in Alton?

I am in contact with the current owner regarding some work but wanted to learn more about its place in the town's history over the course of time.

Not sure about haunted but my music app definitely played some interesting selections while I was working there.

That parish was merged with the Catholic parish in Wolfeboro and they built a combined new church on Rt.28 in Alton. I'm sure most of the Alton records were transferred there.

Now that I think about it, I think it's the town hall that is supposed to be haunted.

It was the Catholic church in Alton (St. Joan of Arc?) that merged with the Catholic church in Wolfeboro to become St. Katherine of Drexel.....not the church being discussed here. I believe the church being discussed here was a Baptist church.

Here are some pics of St Joan of Arc which was also on Main St. in Alton before being torn down to merge with the Wolfeboro parish. The Cathoic church in Wolfeboro was also on Main St in Wolfeboro and was previously an old barn. It is now owned by Brewster Academy

Yes, it did burn. And the Wolfeboro church was St. Cecelia's.
