Default Goodhue in Moultonborough no longer servicing boats.

Not the email I was expecting when I called to schedule a time to put the boat in.

Any recommendations for who to contact to do a pick up and dewinterization at this late date?

Hopefully someone to start a new relationship with for service and storage going forward.

From Goodhue:

Dear Boat Customer,

It is with much disappointment that we write to inform you that we are
unable to continue to service boats. This includes but is not limited to
dewinterization, detailing, launching and more. Our marine mechanic has
relocated out of state and we wish him and his family well. Although we
have conducted a comprehensive search in the off season to staff marine
operations, we have not been able to hire replacements. We have also
explored the possibility of leasing or partnering with other marinas in
efforts to serve our customers however the staffing crisis has limited
these possibilities as well. With this being said, we will work with you
to transition your boat to another service provider as seamlessly as
possible. We would like to continue to offer you storage of your boat if
applicable.

Please contact us once you have secured a service provider to pick up
your boat or if you would like to schedule to pick up your boat yourself.

Thank you for your patronage and understanding.

Overall this isn't that surprising. I formerly used Goodhue marine for service and storage. Unfortunately after they lost the contract at Harrilla Yacht club, things started down this road. And over the last 3 to 4 years, the focus has not been on the marine business but rather the Gun Shop.

Knowing people that worked as Marine Technicians there, it was not and ideal situation after the Harrilla Yacht club separation, as those that I knew left after repeatedly being layed off every year, because the content yacht club money was there for the off season, left for more stable situations. In fact my last year with Goodhue, the situation was much as it is now. Although they at least had the ability to charge the battery and start the boat before I picked it up.

I don't have any negative feelings toward, the owners and wish them well however you either want to be in the marine business or you do not. I think the time has finally arrived where the separation needs to occur, hopefully the gun shop will continue to live on, and someone can come in and take over the Marine operation and facility.

Default Is this a trend

So Wally's is gone, and now Goodhue is having trouble.... is this a trend that it is telling us that it is getting to costly for the smaller Marinas to stay in business.....

Finding qualified help is quite difficult at this time...

I know the notice that I will be retiring soon didn't go over that well.

With the failure of Legacy to meet the requirements of Regent funding, it opened a whole new door for me to complete projects with the grants and funding that I wanted in my town.

Off the Water Marine (www.otwmarine.com), which was started by two former Goodhue mechanics. My boat followed them when they left, and Kevin & Peter have taken great care of it for years. They're operating Harilla Landing now.

Default Goodhue

Not a very good note. If it can effect one marina who will be next?? I know Goodhue has gone out of their way to train sales staff, perhaps they need to affiliate with a trade school.

Goodhue in Moultonboro is not affiliated with Goodhue Boat Company. They have been a small stand alone shop for a long time. I had the pleasure of meeting Tup Goodhue at Bucky's Tavern a few years ago. Heck of a harmonica player!

I agree, it's hard for small single businesses to continue to exist today.

Tup passed a couple of years ago. His son Max is at Goodhue in Wolfe wrenching there! Tup has a bench in his memory at CH Docks. Later in life he spent a lot of time there helping people out when they had mechanical gremlins while launching!
