Default Football this weekend

Can anyone tell me where I might go (Sports Bar) to see this weekend's Dallas v Giants game? (I realize most will have the Patriots on..)

Thanks,
MaryS

I think that any local sports bar will do.

First, the Pats & Bills game is at 1:00 while the Dallas vs Giants game is the Sunday night game at 8:30 pm on NBC, the only game on in that time slot.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...?eref=sinav#17

Second, most Pat's fans would love a chance to see the Giants get trounced.

You can watch it from the comfort of your living room. It's been flexed to the SNF broadcast on NBC.

Default Sunday night

I can't see Dallas winning that game.
But on that suject...I've never warmed up to Sunday night football. Never. Big NFL games (this is the same as a playoff game) are meant to be played on Sunday afternoons, after brunch and Bloody Marys.
I loved the old days...10/11 years ago, when all NFL playoffs were Sat/Sun at 12:30 or 4. Every one of them. And then, Saturdays got switched to 4:30 and 8 (8 on a Saturday is a little bit OK)...and Championship Sunday 3 and 6:30. For 20 years, the two Championships (AFC/NFC) games were 12:30 and 4...much better...for me anyway.

Patrick's Pub is large enough to have more than one game on. After that it's slim pickin's in the lakes region. Not a great sports bar scene.

Now don't go getting all nostalgic on us SA....

The NFL has had to "adjust" for the demographics of the viewing audience whether we like it or not. During the NFL season, SNF is the highest rated primetime show on Sunday nights and has been nearly every week dating back to the 2009 season. Only the recent Survivor finale knocked them off the pedestal that week.

The recent signing of the TV rights until 2022 which will net the NFL nearly $2 BILLION per year is just mind boggling....

Default you're right

No question, you are correct. Ratings indeed tell the story. Not long ago (5 or 6 years) I could do 3 football games, and a dozen Bud Lights on a Sunday...but got into my 40's, and now, after the 4PM games, it's 60 Minutes, some Sunday night TV, and by 10PM...see ya!!!
I guess back in the late 70's, 80's etc, time never mattered at all. But as I got older, I found it a perfect Sat or Sun come playoff time, to get up at 6:30/7, grab the paper, go out to breakfast with the boys, chew the fat, and then BAM, 12:30 game time. I loved that. What gambler does not love the NFL playoffs?
Now, the only 12 hour straight sports days I can do, and just refuse to give up on, are the opening Thurs/ Fri on the NCAA Hoop Tourney. 12PM to 12AM those days, no problem. Although, time will tell.

I love the Sunday night game. No need to look for a pub with multiple tv's as its the only game on. NBC 8:20

I hope God heard SA Meredith's words "I can't see Dallas winning that game". Go Big Blue. It's hard to be a Giants fan living here in the DFW area with the Cowgirls right around the corner!!

Thumbs up So Funny How Sport's, So Called Experts

Said that Tebow didn't know how to throw a football in the NFL... Well I guess that we will get a better look next week against our New England Patriots in the Super Bowl playoffs!! The Pat's will have to come up with another strong 60 minute game, my hope is that our Patriot's find a way to advance toward the Super Bowl!!!!

'Go Pat's'!!

We also have our work cut out for us as Patriots fans in this next game!

Well worth the read; http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...content_stream

We need to get past this weekend that won't be the cake walk last week was, at least it shouldn't be. I don't like NY but they are dangerous. Their kind of like the Pats not really a team of stars they just seem to pull out the win...For the Pats it's definitely the B-B connection.

The Giants are going to have a hard time getting by San Fran, I believe San Fran will win. The Pats - NY super bowl would be better but don't think its going to happen. Pats will get by the Ravens but it is going to be a close game.

I guess you mean any day of the week except for the day Manning and the Giants beat us in the Super Bowl two years ago and destroyed our perfect season????? GO PATS. Beat the Ravens!!! I know that these players have to take it game by game so I suspect they are thinking of ways to try to beat the Ravens now and will worry about the Giants IF THEY BEAT THE RAVENS. If the do not, why worry on a team they will not have to play? And no sure bet that the Giants will be there in the Super Bowl anyway. One game at a time.
Isn't that what we hear every week from our coach!!!???

Looking forward to being in the parking lot by 10AM Sunday, and staying to watch Giants/SF afterwards.
It says here...Giants, in a grind...win by less than 10...say, 4ish.
Patriots, by 21. Not being a homer here. I think Ravens defense is real, but Flaco will struggle. Pats maintain a 7/10 point cushion, open it up on a key turnover (or two) by Flaco/offense in the second half...and then score late and win, going away. Patriots by 21, in a game that will feel closer than that.

Default back to the original subject.........

Patrick's Pub, T-Bones/Cactus Jack and the Lobster Pound are good sport bars to watch the game. Patrick's and TB/CJ usually have some kind of promotions going on during the game. Almost all of the bars have the game on TV. The three I mentioned are the most popular.

If the Pats win, Waterville Valley will have a Pats special on the following Tuesday. Whatever the losing team scores, that is the price of a day's pass. For instance, if the Raven scores 7 points and the Pats win, the lift tickets will be $7 on Tuesday.

Did I put on my swami hat?

The Pats are going to Indy! And I'm so excited that I'll be home in MA for the super bowl and then it's up to Moultonboro on Monday!

Edited for Pineedles. I guess I didn't make much sense at first. Haha

Congrats to the Pats! Now it's up to NY to complete the final conflict redux. As to your placement during the Super Bowl, are you planning on standing between the two borders the whole game?

BTW, love the new E-trade commercials!

Thumbs up WOW, What A Nail Biter!

Being a Patriots fan from since they've been in the league, and I played some football out in Santa Barbara CA. while in school, it seems that the football God sat out the first 59 minutes and some change during todays game between the Ravens and Patriots! Woof, what a game! Then guided that field goal try by the Ravens in the final seconds wide left! Yikes!

Much like Lake Winnipesaukee, a winni is a win!!!! The Patriots will have to pull up their sneaker straps in the super bowl in two weeks to pull out another win...

GOOOO Patriots!

Default Tuck Rule?

Yikes. I'm a big Pat's fan but that sure looked like a catch that was completed in the end zone before the ball was ripped out. Both feet down, ball firmly caught. They review every touchdown now, so maybe the "guys upstairs" saw something that I didn't see.

Not complaining, but I'll bet the Baltimore fans will be.

Post Face mask

What about the touch down for Baltimore that they replayed for possibly being out of bounds. Nothing was said about the player pulling the Pat's player 4 or 5 yards by the face mask and I mean he had a good hold of it.

Exactly that was a ridiculous, ugly penalty. And why didn't the Pats see it upstairs and red flag the play?

You can't review a penalty not called.

HooooWeee, here we go. The irony of the kick that failed and the kick that was made in determining who goes to SB could have had two different team going. Wow!

as said you cannot review a penalty. But he did step out of bounds at the 4 yard line, and not for nothing, but the official right there was probably watching the path of the ball to the pylon and not what was going on before.

I am a huge Pats, fan, and we did not deserve to win, but I will take it, and it is about the time the Pats got some love like that

Does Mrs. SteveA know how much time you spend 'researching' the cheerleaders? Or does she think you're interested in football?

Default Britni

Britni's mom graduated with me in high school. Her Dad was my best friend's brother. I know the family well.
