Default Logistics for island party?

Hello all you island dwellers! I am looking for some advice.... I was hoping to have a largish party (50+ people) on our island this summer, but am having a hard time with the logistics. Our boat seats 8 - so if we don't want to spend the day shuttling we would need to either rent a larger boat (?pontoon) or better yet find someone who would shuttle people. And then I am stumped by where to have people park? Am I making this too hard or is it just too hard?

Thanks!

Default Fun!

I'd ask at the marinas or find a neighbor with a teenager. When my brother was in HS he worked for a marina, and he actually did this stuff on his off time. It was great money for him, and it gave him a great excuse to take the boat out all day and night. I'd give you his number...but he's 31 now.

Default What island are you on?

I know a responsible kid that might be willing to shuttle for you. Feel free to PM me if you would like to to ask him.

Why not rent the Winnipesaukee Belle from The Wolfeboro Inn?

I would look for a Yacht Club Launch with a driver. I would think the Yacht Club would also have the proper Insurance already in place, and might be interested in the extra cash. It would think it would be considered a Charter. Not sure if the boats driver would be required to have a "Comercial License" to operate, since it would be For Hire.

Not only transportation, you will need waste patrol!
Meaning rent a porta potti, the ones on construction sites, at backyard weddings, etc. A MUST.

Is your island place the only residence? Contact your neighbors on the island and your neighbors at your mainland facility.

This is an excellent point. With 50 people on a small island needing to use the facilities over a short period of time....you could OVERLOAD a Septic system.

A Porta Potti might be going a bit overboard, don't you think? After all, half the guest could get by with the nearest tree.

Contact Amy at signature events. She has done several island parties and would be able to help. www.signatureeventsnh.com

Default ferry for island party

You may want to consider contacting Sandy Island Camp. I believe their boat (40' passenger boat) has been used to ferry island party goers in the past.

Talking NASWA Yacht

Ask Jim at the NASWA resort at the Weirs, if he will rent out their motor yacht. Plenty big for what you want to do.

Default License

Before anyone can take passengers for hire they must have a NH Commercial Vessel Operators license (or a Coast Guard Masters if taking more than 6 people) and have a commercial vessel that is inspected by the NHMP. If there is no pay, then it is OK to use the old Pontoon.

Misty Blue.

PS. I've got the boat and the ticket and I just love a good party!
