Default Killdeer and a Turkey Vulture

Both taken this morning along the shore of Opechee Bay in Laconia. I used my car as a blind to get close to both as they are skittish birds.

Both taken with Canon 7D and 400 f/5.6L

Av Mode ISO 400 1/100 sec f/5.6

Av Mode ISO 400 1/60 sec f/5.6

Nice shots!

Weren't you shooting with a 40D before? Could be wrong, but if not, how does the 7D compare to the 40D in your opinion?

Thanks,

R2B

Thank you and yes, I was shooting with the 40D. I still have it as a back-up and I still use it a lot. It is a great camera. The 7D has just slightly better IQ (image quality) and slightly less noise. Also, it is a tad less of a prosumer body and more of a pro body as besides the full auto mode, it does not have any of the program modes that the 40D has e.g. sports. landscape, portrait, etc. The 7D also has a better AF (auto focus) system and more robust shutter mechanism with better weather sealing for the whole body.

My 40D was getting a bit long in the tooth and decided to replace it and keep it as a back-up and the 7D was the next logical and affordable (for me) step up.

I really need to go bird hunting with you! I love taking shots of birds but find it difficult. Your shots are amazing!
