Default Golf Question

Can anyone tell me when Golf will open to non residents of NH? Currently can't golf in NH as a MA resident (even though been living here for almost two months) but I now can play miniature golf?

I called the NH Golf Association and they said they had no idea when this will be released as it is not even in the plan..

I find it hard to believe that golf courses north of Concord could survive without the income from seasonals, snow birds, and vacationers(if that happens)

Looking for insight and answers, not side commentary

Just went through this with my son. What you have to do is become a member of the club (even though they are public courses). He usually only plays at two or three places and all of them had similar programs in place. He just had to decide which course he preferred and we got him a membership. Not exactly what we wanted to do but it ends up working out ok financially as long as he plays enough this summer (which usually isn't a problem). I have no idea when the courses will open up to the public so that is why we did what we did.

that was another part I loved, its ok to golf there if a member from out of state lol.

most courses are about $1,000 and up for a summer membership. I do not have that type of funds nor do I get out that much to warrant that price

Default Golf Question

Are they really checking for residency? I can’t imagine they will turn down the $.

It sucks that you forgot your wallet with your NH ID, good thing you always keep cash and a CC in your bag.
It was nice of you to offer to store your brothers car in you garage up in N.H. over the winter while he was in Florida. To bad you haven’t been able to get it to him yet, hence the MA plates, at least you are not just letting it sit.

Gotta get creative.

We've been three times, and have watched the golf shop people check an ID on people they do not personally know as either a member or a resident.

One guy in the group in front of us yesterday went running back to his car and came back with wallet in hand. Our collective guess was that he said his wallet was in his car, and told to go get it. He did, and ran back to the car with his wallet. Then on to the tee box.

There seems to be a good adherence to the rules at the two courses we've played at.

Wow. Guess I won’t be lugging my clubs up anytime soon.

At least the wife will be happy.

It's tough to get a tee time at my course, there is no issue filling it up with in-state people around Londonderry anyway. Some courses will call you a member with an inner club membership which is usually a few hundred bucks and includes a GHIN card. I have heard of courses around here also going the pre-pay / membership route and that's $$$$.

I actually called NHGA today and asked them if there was anything in any phase about non residents and they said no it was never put in anywhere and they do not know when that would even be an opportunity and I know just about as much as they do. Apparently they left that out of the reopening

Default Governors are talking

The Governors of MA, NH, & ME have been communicating on golf (and other outdoor activities than can attract crowds. )

Seems none of them are anxious to be the first to open things up for fear of a mass influx from other states that may have higher incidences of COVID 19.

A NH golf organization has had to cancel a tournament at a course that borders the NH/ME border. The legal address is ME.

Ok, take a breath and breath.

Here's a link from NHGA.COM website. Top of home page is COVID-19 info. Info on residency is in the FAQs near the bottom.
