I just had a great week of fishing on the Lake -- arguably my best June results ever. All were nice-sized, healthy fish. Some from the dock, some from the boat, some from the kayak. Caught a couple of pickerel, too.

That's funny -- the pickerel I got last week was only my second one (that I remember, anyway) in about 43 years of fishing the lake (51 years on the lake, but can't recall much fishing before age 6-7...other than sunnies with mussels from the dock...good times).

Funny how you can have great years and simply awful ones. In spring of 2011, I got my first two lakers, but the bass fishing was pretty quiet. That being said, I always see PLENTY of bass when diving (which makes sense, since we usually dive in/around structure).

One other item of note -- I caught a <1lb rock bass off our dock last week. Not something I necessarily wanted to see on my hook. Prior to that catch, I'd only seen them on the Lady of the Lake wreck in Gilford. HUGE resident population on that wreck has been there at least a dozen years. Guess they are spreading as predicted. Let's just hope we don't get any snakeheads in the Lake.

Tight lines!

I caught a rock bass in Wolfeboro in June. Not thrilled to see that either. Left it for the birds.
