Default One vs. Two Doggos

Some of y'all might remember that I got a new puppers in July '23.

Well, we're thinking of getting a second doggo, so I thought I'd ask what people's thoughts are about one vs. two as I've only ever owned one at a time.

Both would be the same breed from the same breeder, mini-schnauzer, and the older will be 1.5 years old while the younger will be 12 weeks.

Thoughts?

I have done this twice.

They enjoyed each other's company.

The first two were only two years apart and were partners in pandemonium.

The second two were a mid life span apart and the older one taught the puppy how to behave properly.

Double the walks has done wonders for my waist! Still, I wish mine could walk at the same time and direction.

We have always had two or more dogs. They keep each other company.

Default ...why stop at 2...??

...We are on our second tour of duty with 3 Goldens. Having more than 1 dog at the same time is a bit more challenging, but once you get into the groove at feeding time, potty time, etc, it's not a big deal.

You mentioned that you'd be getting the same breed from the same breeder, and I would say that is a huge plus. We have done that with all of our Goldens and while each one has a distinct personality, they are all like in temperament, overall health, etc.

As others have written, it is also good for them socially to have another one of their own kind to play and interact with.

I would highly recommend getting the 2nd!

I've only had one at a time but 2 would surely free me up from playing 24/7.

Default Names?

Will there be a naming contest? Theme? Our friends with Dalmatians have Morgan and Pirate (one has a black eye patch.)

I live in Mass but have a home in Merdith. When I walk my dog in Mass there are tons of dog walkers walking multiple dogs. I see one young girl that walks 6-8 dogs every time I see here. I don't know how she does it, but they all seem to walk together. She must make a ton of money, they get anywhere from $25 to $40 for each dog. Many of them get walked twice a day. My dog wants to chase everything and she's still pretty fast even though she's a tripod.

I mean, I can share ideas that have come up and tell you I have legitimate input, but my wife and kids'll be the real deciders here!

Though I'm pretty sure they've decided which, these are the top three we're "discussing":
Walnut
Echo
Biscuit

Only 2? Those are rookie numbers!

We are up to 7, and none are small.

4 goldens, 2 berners and an english bulldog.

Alright, so I love doggos, but that seems so...limiting. How do you travel, take them to parks, find space on the couch?!

Congrats on the 2nd pup.

We have 2 small dogs. I don't know how the first lived for a year and a half without his "brother?

Bed space can be at a premium...We have a fair amount of land so we don't need to do dog parks. Boarding for travel gets expensive but we don't vacation that often by choice- usually 1 or 2 trips per year.

Sadly, since posting last week we very tragically lost one of our Berners.
