Chip Island: 1st of 4 in chain W of Whortleberry.I;800m ENE FL#58 from Bizer's web site.

TUFTONBORO, N.H. —At least one person was hurt in a boat accident at Chip Island in Tuftonboro early Monday morning.

The powerboat, operated by 18-year-old Michael Peterson of Londonderry, struck the island. One of the passengers was taken to the hospital. Their condition is not known.
Five other passengers were treated at the scene.
The boat was on its way to Cow Island when it collided with Chip Island, authorities said.
The ship sustained significant damage, but did not pose an environmental threat, authorities said.
Authorities said there was limited visibility due to rain and fog at the time of the accident, and that alcohol was not a factor. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Good question. I'm also curious how fast they were going and the extent of the damage. Not much info to go off of.

Default Earliest accident?

Seems mighty early in the season for this kind of story. I ask the Elders: Is this the earliest that this has happened that you recollect?
