Thumbs up Coe House rave!!

Hi everyone- Just wanted to give a thumbs up to Coe House this past Saturday! There were 5 of us that went and all had a great meal- Duck, Sole, Prime Rib and the Rib Eye.. It was a nice touah that they had a wine tasting when we arrived and we ended up going with one of the bottles for the tasting. We had the server Chris- from South Africa who was great!!

I highly recommend this restaurant! Jen :

Thumbs up Our turn to go?

We've referred many of our customers to the Coe House over the years, and are always rewarded with glowing reviews when they next visit. Since we'll be going "seasonal" this fall, Waldo and I will FINALLY be able to pay a visit there ourselves! I'm hoping someone can post here and let me know if Coe House will be seasonal this year, and if so when will they be closing for the season. We don't want to miss our chance!!!!

Thumbs up Volunteer.

I volunteer to work with a number of forum members. I have years of experience as short order cook in various drive-in type restuarants such as the Boulevard Drive-in and Double Decker. Even worked at the HO JO's next to the Weirs Drive-in! Now I am really showing my age!

I will give free hugs to the forum members that wears the Winnipesaukee thong. Spurs and all!!!!!!!

Oh, you guys are hilarious! Waldo and I just shared a great belly laugh with those posts! If it turns out that Coe House closes sooner than we do, we'll be calling you two to come in and work!

PS - forum members aren't the only ones who get hugs at Waldos. You guys better get your hugging skills honed right away!

Now, will somebody please tell me if the Coe House is seasonal, and if so when they close for the season?

Default Coe House Closing ??

Can anyone confirm / deny that the Coe House is closing (as in out of Biz). We were told this a week or so ago (actually heard it at the Woodshed). I understand that the head chef left last year for 51 Mill Street -- which is awsome too oh by the way.

Anyone know for sure?

The Coe House hired a new chef this spring. My meal was awesome when I ate there in August. Not sure about the closing rumor.

Just gave them a call and they are closed for the 2005 season.

You will have to wait until they open in the Spring for the 2006 season.

Default Love to open restaurant in Center Harbor??

I have also heard that Coe House will close for good. Also heard on good authority that Mike Love (formerly of Love's Quay in W'Boro, which is now 51 Mill Street) will open a new restaurant in CH in 2006. Don't know if that means he is going to purchase building that houses Coe House or what.

Samiam, what's the scoop????

We went there last Saturday and I have to say had a disappointing meal! My fish was as tough as leather and my hubby's prime rib was overcooked. The friends we were with didn't fare much better. This is difficult for me to write because in the past 5 years I have NEVER had a bad meal there. Our waiter informed us that last weekend was it for the Coe House and that it would not be open for the winter season. I asked him if it would re-open again next spring and he wasn't able to give me an answer. He said their chef had left to go to another place. I don't know who the replaced him with but it was certainly NOT up to par for the Coe House. Sadest Regards, KonaChick

I posted a link to an article in May about the new chef Jason Charbono. Are posters confused about the chef Jason replaced or has Jason now left? From what I understand the chef that Jason replaced left because the Coe House was going to close for the winter & he wanted to be full time.

Now it is unclear if that is what posters are talking about or have things changed.

Default Coe House Closing?

Propeller -- my comments had nothing to do with your post. As Donnamatrix obviously heard too -- I was informed that the Coe House was Closing (as in out of Biz) post Labor day. Restuants usually keep that as a closely held secret until "fait acompli" -- now that we are post Labor Day I was curious if anyone could validate what I was told by Woodshed employees. Didn't mean to confuse everyone

Our waiter just said the chef left..I don't know when or where or if he is talking about the current chef or the previous one..moot point I guess because it is closed at least through the spring.

From what i heard there will be a new place built for Mike, he is not going to take over the Coe House. Not sure what type of place, although it will be up 25 a little more.

Just got back from Maine,DM,and saw your post. Chef Jason left early to take a winter job at a college and I decided to close early instead of going through September.I wasn't happy with the quality of food this year and will try and recruit someone good for the spring. We still plan on operating as a seasonal restaurant.Don't worry, not going out of biz...just don't want to operate in the off season.

Wink We Snoozed!

Darn it! We could have had ForumFest II at the Coe House?
SAMIAM could have given tours to raise money for the cause.
This is a local treasure with such rich history. Your website is very well done SAMIAM.

Default Coe House

Oh no, where will my family have Thanksgiving! After years of preparing dinner for everyone we started a tradition of inviting the family to the Coe House for the holiday and it was so relaxing - great food with a special atmosphere. Now we will have to begin a search for a restaurant to meet the same expectations - any ideas?
