WE heard the rumor that it had been purchased just before it went up for foreclosure auction. I think that was the beginning of May. Now it does look like something is starting to happen.

Really????!!!!! I didn't hear that. Interesting. But it seems we have an awful lot of housing for the elderly in Wolfeboro.

There is a lot of elderly housing in Wolfeboro but look at how our population is aging both locally and nationally. My sense is that you are going to see a lot more of this type of housing in the years to come. In any event, I don't think the town could have supported another restaurant so this is a good development.

2 floors no elevator? Maybe they are going to put something in?

I agree with the comment about the aging population. I have a friend who is now buying ranch style homes for sale and converting them to handicapped accessible housing, and elderly housing, for those that do not want, or need to go to a nursing home. With talk of an impending mini ice age in the next few decades, I'm thinking moving south will be a good idea for me and the wife. But,
heck, Florida can only handle so many retirees. At some point in the future Florida is going to turn us away.....

Convenient location right next to the hospital. I'm guessing some type of rehab center. But that's just a guess.

I think your thinking of the motel next to the Front Porch. The Lakeview Inn is up on North Main Street. Near the cemetary. Hmmm.....not sure I'd want to see that everyday if I was getting up there in age...which I am...

Anyone know how much it was assessed, and how much it sold for? What were the annual prop taxes and will the Lake View Inn continue to pay property taxes after its use is changed from an inn to a nursing home? Could well be that it will become property tax exempt because a nursing home is genuine long term assisted medical care for elderly/disabled/demented people who cannot get along without some extra help to a varying amount of assisted care.

Can someone post a photo of the Lake View Inn and does it have any tennis courts?

I guess if they go to the ZBA that might happen. I wouldn't want to spend 800k before doing the ZBA thing though.

Most sales contracts of this type have a contingency clause covering land use approvals.

That's too bad. I knew her when she owned the Lakeview.

Default Lake View Inn

I looked up the hospital address and it's the opposite end of Main St. than the Lake View in the realtor's ad for the property. I hope the Lake View near Huggins is not for sale. Went there in the fall and loved it. Any final conclusion on which motel/inn has been sold? Thanks for info.

Default Lake Motel

This will be my last question on this subject I promise. I've tried to contact by email and phone the Lake Motel and Guest House near Huggins Hospital and no success. Is that the one that was sold? That Guest House was beautiful. Thanks.

The Lake Motel was sold several years ago. Starting last year they put an did some remodeling. Was the guest house you are referring to to the right of the motel? If so, that was the former owner's home. I don't know if the current owners live there now or not. I didn't even know they were renting it, if that is the guest house you are referring to.

Default Guest House

Yes, according to the owner last October it had just been built and was beautiful inside. We stayed one weekend. The décor in the rooms was really nice. There was another house to the right of it where I think the owners lived. The Motel was to the left of the Guest House. They seemed very excited about the new building and it certainly didn't sound as if he was planning on selling it. I'll be up in August and I'll check it out. Thanks.

My wife and I have stayed at the Lake Motel in Wolfeboro three times: September 2012, January and March 2013. The new section is great. In the old office area, they have a drawing of their planned renovations for the older sections. The new owner is definitely excited about it. If it's the one you're thinking of, it's right behind Morrissey's Front Porch (http://www.morrisseysfrontporch.com/), which used to Bailey's.

And yes, the owner lives in the adjacent house. If you've had problems contacting them, make sure your info is up to date. Their website is: http://www.thelakemotel.com/ (there's a Reservation Request tab) The phone is 603.569.1100
