Default House Hunters on HGTV

I just happened to turn the channel and caught the beginning of an episode with a family looking at homes on Winnipesaukee. Rather cool!

Great show. Looks like the house that was purchased is to the left of Shep Browns.

According to my cable guide, it was a new airing. Last night, I looked ahead to see when they will replay it so i can see it in its entirety and it played again overnight; but unfortunately I don't see it airing again now...

I used to watch House Hunters all the time...until I bought my house in Wolfeboro this year. After doing all my OWN house hunting I just didn't feel like watching others hunt anymore. (BUT I learned a lot from watching the show)

That said, I did look into going on the show during my search and found out you get about $500 to let them film and you have to be very close to a closing date on a house. I think they show people looking at other houses just so it seems like they are making a choice.

If anyone has a link to the episode that would be cool to see.

I have heard that you basically have to be under contract already on the house you decide on, as Cate mentioned you need to be basically ready to close on it. Its already a done deal and they film backwards in time.

Regarding the one in Alton, it was listed by Blue Water, switched to Nicole Watkins for a very short period, then back to Blue Water. Probably had something to do with this.

Unfortunately the whole story about the other houses is false . The buyers had never even looked at the Alton house or the Tuftonborough house until after they had closed on the Meredith house. All filming is done about 3 to 4 weeks after you own the house.

Default Island Cottage

My wife and I have always thought it would be a great episode if they did a show with a couple purchasing an island cottage, perhaps in the $350-400K range. They are all so unique and have such history!

If you have a cable box, you should be able to do on-demand to watch the show, that's what we did down here in Mass. this morning.

We rented a house in Belize that was part of the House Hunters International show. It turned out that it was all a marketing ploy to that was sponsored by the developer of the property. Total BS.

Default real agent

One of our local real estate agents here in NJ was on one of the shows. It is real with a real agent but with some extras added. They keep replaying the same shows over so hope I can see the Lake one some day soon

Proving once again...different strokes for different folks. The lush, green, lawn would be a major turn-off for me. Not looking for suburbia on the shores of the lake.

I hope those folks understand that nice green lawn is what is killing the water quality and feeding the milfoil problem!

Looking at that place just makes me appreciate so much more my nice little cozy island cabin built in the 40's!

It is on Olive street, a small dead end dirt road. It is a bit north of west Alton marina/sandbar. It looks across between diamond and rattlesnake. I believe that puts it around the corner from smith point.

Default Nicole has the details

For "direct scoup" information on the HGTV Winnipesaukee episode, Nicole Watkins of Lakes Region Realty Group was the agent who appeared in the show. Her website is www.NicoleWatkins.com.

Default Alton....upscale?

After spending 53 summers there I was amazed to find out from the show that Alton is one of the upscale towns on the lake. It was great to see the back bay in Alton and some of the older homes along 28A. I would have gone with the house in Tuftonboro myself. Can't understand those folks obsession with a green lawn. The place they chose looked more like it belonged in Bedford than a Lake Winni vacation spot. No trees, either, but then again the wife complained that the trees in Tuftonboro blocked her view. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Default Lake Winni on House and Garden TV.

Nationally televised, Home and Garden Television, followed a couple around the lake as they looked for a summer house. The name of the show is House Hunters.

...oh buoy....I am waiting for them to come knock on the door of my cozy little mongrel cottage....maybe they will give me some money for this photographic opportunity or perhaps they could help me with shoveling some snow u-know? If they come back when the weather is a lot warmer, then maybe they could help me with painting the shingles outside, too ....ho-ho-ho?

This one's been on many times over the past few years, and there is another thread on it already.

"No manicured lawn"...as a primary criterion. Look in the suburbs instead!

Looks like the househunters family didn't like their purchase on the lake.

They have listed the house for sale

Default Many possible reasons why someone sells....

not necessarily because they didn't like the place. Family situation, kids get bored with it, need the money....who knows? Not anyone's business but theirs.

I remember when that place sold in 2012...somewhere in the low 900's, I believe. New sticker price is 1,399....50% price increase? Good for them if they can get it!!
