Starting Saturday, a heat wave is projected for next week. (Temps of 111° in the Pacific Northeast!).
If you don't have a spare window unit, I'd invest in these! |

Note; Many of these "window" units can be built into the wall (thru the wall) for ease of use. No need to take in and out of the window each year. Also, no need to block any natural window light.
A good contractor should be able to do this for you. |

For those in need. Many window units can be picked up for free at the Laconia town dump. Oh course, you may have to grab two or three to make sure one works.

Free?
Yes, pick them up for "free". And pay $15-20 each to bring back the two that don't work. There's a reason somebody else paid to dump them.

Disagree. Many units work, same as the refrigerators. Bring a small generator with you. Or maybe ask nicely and they will let you plug it in

People need to consider the newer air conditioner units solely from an energy perspective.
The newer units are easier to handle and consume a lot less energy from those of years ago. |

All true. But, how often does one need the AC here in the lakes area. Personal it’s a dozen times during the mid summer.

We used to be on a hill facing west and we fried in that house. I agree. Newer units pay for themselves pretty quickly. Probably within one season. |
