Default Lobster & Steamers

I am new to the Gilford vicinity and would like to cook a lobster & steamers dinner for my sister and brother-in-law next week when they come to visit. Can anyone tell me where a good place is for me to purchase live lobsters and steamers in the Gilford area? Thanks!

Market Basket in Tilton. Lobsters are currently $3.99/lb. If you would like the store to steam them, they will do that. If you have them steamed there, the NH meals tax is added.

Default Lobster Connection

We recently had some nice lobsters and steamers from the Lobster Connection on Route 3 next to Mosquito Bridge on Lake Winnisquam.

I'll second the Lobster Connection. We got some hard shelled lobster there last weekend that were as good as any we ever had. More costly than the $3.99ones at MB but well worth it for a special occasion. W often get the soft shell ones too.

Default Johnson's

I was at Johnsons on 11 enjoying an ice cream and saw them advertized for $4.99 as well.
All things considered if you are coming through Concord the best bet is probably MB.

Default Lobsters/Steamers

I'd agree with the Lobster Connection. Their tanks are the cleanest I've seen anywhere.

Default Vista Foods

in Laconia on South Main St has $3.99 lobsters. Limited supply of steamers though.

Lobster Connection next to the Winnisquam Bridge has plenty of steamers.

OK, as soon as the local corn is in at Beans & Greens we'll hit the Lobster Connection for steamers and lobster and then B&G for corn on the way back to camp. Some milted butter, a few Sierra Nevada pale ale in the frig, a nice sunset view from Welch.....

Slick craft....where is Beans & Greens?? Is it some sort of farm stand? By your comment....I take it that the corn is great...is it that yellow and white kernel variety ("sugar & butter"??). I love that stuff if it's good (i.e. not doughy)

Beans & Greens also has great homemade pies, especially the blueberry.

I called them Saturday evening after reading your post and they were $5.99lb.
I shopped around and went to Tilton MB and got 5 @$3.99 and 2.5 lbs of steamers for the same price.
2.5lbs of steamers and 2 lobsters later my seafood craving was happily satisfied.

Fiddlehead Farms in Alton right near the circle is a great place as well. they have all kinds of fresh seafood and the quality is excellent.
They have 1.25-1.50 pound lobsters right now at $4.99/lb and they will steam them for you as well. Just call ahead.

I steamed 10 lobsters this weekend in 2 batches of 5. For each batch I poured in 3 beers (Sam Adams, Harpoon or equivalent (no water just the beer) along with 2 lemons cut up. Steamed them for 12-15 minutes. Steaming is the best way because if you boil them in water you dilute the flavor of the lobster in the water. Don't forget to remove the elastics before steaming so you don't get any rubbery taste.

Enjoy
