Default Loud Explosions last evening 5-15-19?

Anyone else hear two very loud explosions last evening? Not anything like fireworks, but very distinct in the area of Moultonborough/Center Harbor. Heard it from Wakondah Pond.

Exclamation

Probably not dynamite. They're using blast suppression nowadays. But that wasn't the case when they built the Walgreen's boathouse. One blast rolled me out of a hammock, and they're 1/2 mile away!

Can't isn't the same as don't. The military definitely sometimes does outside the designated corridors in remote areas.

They aren't supposed to. But as stated by someone else that doesn't mean anything. To my knowledge however the military abides to this ruling, because it can result in a Court Marshall I do believe. And if they did have permission to do it, it would be in a remote area, not the Lakes Region of NH...

There are a few High Altitude Supersonic Corridor (HASSC) in the US, none in the Lakes Region. Edwards AFB has one....

I am fairly confident the only time supersonic low altitude (below 60,000ft) flight was authorized over CONUS was 9/11.

My guess is somewhere near there a transformer blew up.

first sound around 8ish and the second around 10:30. Nothing like a sonic boom, really sounded like an explosion.

I occasionally hear these sounds over where I live off Paugus Bay.

I have no clue what they are.

One possibility is someone is out in the woods testing their explosive making skills.

Aliens?

Probably someone lighting off some big fireworks, like M-2000's or the like.

Yes! Do those pirate guys on Blackey's Cove still have a cannon they fire off? Our first place on the lake was across from them maybe a dozen years ago, and you could hear that thing from really far away. Location would be about right too.

We also heard it. I am on Blackey Cove and it ABSOLUTELY was not coming from the "pirates" cannon. Sounded more towards Center Harbor. Not from Blackey Cove.

Default Same area heard nothing

I also live in the Wakondah Pond area and did not hear anything. I was thinking about the construction going on in the neighborhood, but it probably wouldn’t be that so late at night.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I only hear these sounds during darkness.

Tannerite is sold at gun shops and by shooting at and hitting a “jar” of the stuff you can make a big boom. I hear it occasionally from a local home gun shop.
It is also used for destroying beaver dams...place a couple pounds of it strategically on or in a beaver dam...stand back 100 feet and shoot the plastic jar..BOOM!
Google tannerite/beaver dams and there are many YouTubes of it!
