Default Lost Registration Decals

What is the procedure if you have lost your registration decals before they have been applied to the boat?

Thank you

Post Replacement stickers

From the NHMP FAQ page:

I lost my registration or decal. What do I do?

A replacement registration or registration decal can be issued at the Boat Desk in Concord, some DMV substations, or Marine Patrol Headquarters. The owner will need to have the bow number of the boat and his/her driver license. The fee for a replacement registration is $10.00; the fee for replacement decals is $3.00.

Ahoy there Skip, here's a slightly different question. The Marine Patrol in Glendale would not let me register my 14' sailboat that I purchased used, last October, because I seem to have lost or misplaced the bill of sale. Without a bill of sale, what do I do, besides sailing it unregistered?

Can you get the previous owner to re-issue a bill of sale?

They are probably wanting to establish prior owner/registration so the boat is not double registered.

If that is not possible, you will need to either call or visit Glendale again and explain your situation to a Supervisor.

Less, if you had a bill of sale originally, just write another and sign the former owner's name. If they check with the former owner he/she will verify that you bought th eboat for X dollars- they are not going to check signatures. Of course I am not it may not be compltely legal to do so but it is what I would do!
