Best Selection of Draft Beers...

Is there a good restaurant - doesn't have to be fancy - that has a good selection of draft beers on hand? I'm talking English and Irish imports, if possible... like Murphy's, Guinness, Beamish, Sam Smith's, you get the idea...

Unfortunately, it is in ManchVegas. Huge selection of drafts as well as bottles. Great blues bands on weekends.

There are two floors. The college crowd dominates the cellar.

Don't know how broad the selection is, but I know Garwood's in Wolfeboro has Guinness on tap. Once I see the Guinness, I usually don't look any further since I don't see it on tap all that often. In fact, when I am traveling, I often find myself picking my dinner locations based on whether they have Guinness on tap - I have been a convert ever since a trip I took to Ireland.

Tewksbury MA is known as "Tewksvegas". LOL. Think about it for a minute and you crack up.
I imagine its the same sort of irony applied to the "Manchvegas" usage.

For a small restaurant the Lyons' Den has some reasonable choices once you get past the Bud dishwater products.

You know, I'm with jack1706 on this one, I don't quiet get the irony of it either.
I grew up in a town on the South Shore of Mass. called Marshfield and it was known as MarshVegas. I could get the irony of that one as the Las and Marsh are somewhat similar.

I dunna know. Who am I? It is just was I was always led to believe.

Manch-Vegas

Aternative name for the city of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. The word was coined by combining the first part of "Manchester" with the second word in "Las Vegas," juxtaposing Las Vegas's glitz and glamor with Manchester's lack of either. Used derisively.

Noun: The city that never sleeps alone! The rockin' Queen City of New Hampshire, Manchester, got it's glamorous name from the fact that there is so much of the same to do all over and nowhere in town. It's really a rolling mystery!

The initial impression would leave a new comer with a feeling of AW while the veterans of the city know better!

All in all it's a hell of a place to be and certainly an upcoming world power on the East Coast!

Bottom line: It's tongue in cheek humor.... it's certainly not being snotty about Manchester - if you've ever been to Las Vegas, you'd know it's glitz, glamor, and little/no substance. Bright lights. Big city. Make a wrong turn and you're in the projects.

Used to live in Marshvegas. Always thought it was because it's a bit of a honky tonk town compared to the surrounding towns, and there used to be gambling there back in the day.

Manchvegas I think also refers to the "action" going on.

Still a bit off topic, but us kids when in high school "coined" it MarshVegas because there wasn't much to do in town.

We had lunch at an Applebee's and I made the mistake of asking what was on tap; got the usual memorized list of 15 versions of dishwater starting with bud. When she got done I ordered an ice tea and boy did she give me a look.

Afterwords my wife advised to simply ask if they have Guinness or a pale ale on tap rather than suffering through that awful list. So I will give that a try.

In the past I have tried asking what is on tap after the bud, coors and miller products and that gives them a brain cramp as the list has been memorized starting with bud. Oh well..................

The college crowd waitstaff and barkeeps beer list always starts with bud. Ask them something else and it's 'Will you get with the program?' look.

I always ask for a brown ale and they give you the 'WTF' look. OK how about Guinness? Most young barkeeps won't even pour it properly.

There's a glass for ales. A glass for porters, etc. Only the high end bars do this properly. A cold mug does not make the beer. Neither does ice cold temperature. Unless you are drinking bud, the icy cold makes budweiser taste more like water. Lately I think budweiser taste like cotton candy.

The beer of choice among Colorado true beer drinkers are 'Sam Adams'. Not Coors. I was peasantly surprise to see this one!

To get a true 'Black and Tan', stop at Patrick's in Gilford. They know how to pour the 'black' over the back of a spoon and 'tan' the top.
