Some Nov 28th shots from the Smile of the Great Spirit
The lake this time of the year sometimes shines at it's very best even though every journey proves to be an adventure. It took about an hour of ice breaking with Jim's barge to be sure that I'd be able to back out and turn about from the Lee's Mills landing. The ice near shore was merely shell ice, but he ice in the bay was nearly one half inch thick, even the big and heavy steel barge struggled! Just before I took the sunset shot a loon had crossed my path trailing nearly a 100 yard undisturbed wake across the mirrored water.
Such a beautiful time to be on the lake, and such a pity that so few get to witness the peace. Can you even begin to imagine what it was like 100 years ago before motors?? |

There were no snowmobiles on the lake back then. .
