The clubs in NH are successful because they are independent and well run. Bureaucrats always want central control and money..... there is a lot of money in the clubs and they want their share. Unfortunately they will require a larger share and more and more of that money will get diverted to fat salaries and the associated fatter pensions. It is a sad turn of events, thanks for keeping up the good fight Winnocturn, but this state is turning into a mini Mass.....

Fewer hunters/fishermen
I believe the p,an used to be that F & G was s supported by license fees. Fewer people are buying licenses and they are being called upon to do non-revenue stuff like Search and Rescue (Thank you SAR volunteers). So F & G is looking everywhere possible to bring up their revenue stream. F & G has an executve director and 10 commissioners, one from each county. Most state agencies have one commissioner. Draw whatever conclusions you like.

Does the legislature know that?
There is a legislative commission studying this very issue. Presumably, they think the horse is still breathing. From the state House calendar for August 3:
COMMISSION TO STUDY THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF FISH AND GAME DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS (RSA 206:1-d), Room 100, SH 10:00 a.m. Regular meeting. |
