Default New construction

Anyone know what's going in across the street from the Town Docks in Meredith? I saw a foundation hole dug this weekend. I always use to park there when everything was full across the street.

Is going to be another McDonald's owned by the same franchise so's hopefully you don't have to wait too long for a McDouble $1.29 cheeseburger even when the traffic is all backed up. God bless em ...... always think'n 'bout their customers needs!

According to members of the construction crew there, it is going to be a new bakery. Sounds good to me, as I rarely pass up the opportunity to enjoy fresh baked goods.

This area isn't affluent enough, all year around, to support a stand alone bakery like that.

People go to the day old rack in the back of the store at Heath's Supermarket and get four blueberry or cranberry muffins, or six serious old fashioned, brown sugar donuts, or a cheese danish for $2.50, plus their cup of coffee in 5-flavors in an el cheapo styrafoam cup is free to store shoppers.

A bakery will probably charge $1.50/cup for the same coffee which is a lot more than no charge at Heaths.

The bakery business in Plymouth on Main St that used to be Anderson's Bakery for a million years has closed, and is currently getting remodeled into a beer brew pub, or something.

That spot near the Meredith Fire Station seems like a super high visibility location so who knows, but they better have more than just a bakery ....... maybe sandwiches, subs, and pizza .... everybody eats hot pizza ..... and customers can park across the highway at the town dock p-lot and run across.

Another reason to have people crossing Rt 3.... brilliant as if the traffic isn't bad enough through there already.

Well you certainly can't deny a building permit because people have to cross the street to get to it. There is plenty of reasons for people to cross that street both ways. The only other thing that they could do is build a bridge over the road which would be very costly.

Not suggesting they not issue a building permit just making an observation, another reason for the chicken to cross the road.

Plans are ready to go for a mid-block, signalized crossing: http://www.meredith3-25.com/index.html

Previous plans did raise Route 3 and provide a pedestrian tunnel under. Probably less expensive to put a pedestrian bridge over and avoid the conflicts.

Will you be the one pushing the wheelchair up one side of the bridge and the holding it back from running away on the other side.

Assume if they did build a bridge crossing that it would have ADA compliant access ramps.

You also still have the intersection x-walks if you prefer to walk down there and back.

It will be a high rise by Meredith standards! I understand it is going to be the exact same height as Baypoint. Bakery on the lower level, offices on the second floor and a residence on the top floor.

Stupid idea. The only real solution is a pedestrian bridge. Traffic moves slow enough now on a busy weekend and now a few thousand cars will have to stop at a light while a couple people wander across the street.

Default What's happening on the north side of the lights...

On the left heading north on Rt. 3 just after Bootleggers? It used to be a laundromat. I heard the NH State Liquor was going to relocate their Meredith store. Then, after some guy bought the building and started the remodel, NH SL changed their mind. Now it's a parking lot filled with construction stuff doin' nuttin'!

Default Heard the above from...

The owner of an auto repair almost next door. Kinda confirmed by the ladies at the Meredith store.

What would the town do with this? Leave it empty like the Zacky Pizza building on the corner...Site of an A&P and Interlakes Dairy at one time before the hardware and pizza. Always wondered if anyone ever bought a Zacky's pizza.

Perhaps the State should purchase all of the property around that intersection, flatten it and put in a 2 lane traffic circle.

I heard though the grapevine that a real estate company had interest in that building where Zacky's was to put in some offices but the terms of the deal could not be solidified. Sure would be nice to see something done with that building, seems like a great location that is going to waste, but I suppose if the price isn't right it'll just sit.

How to relocate a town parking lot?

Isn't the Town of Meredith going to move their public parking lot across Rt-25 there, and situate it on what is now the former laundromat lot. The construction project vehicles and equipment will soon be all gone from that spot.

The existing town parking lot will become occupied by a new commercial building, after the existing former Aubuchon and restaurant building is demolished.
..........
..........
..........

Yo, dat lil' day ole rack in the back...

Down at Heath's Super-Duper, their home-made style whoopie pies are sooo good ....... they don't get stale ..... they just get better! Can't wait for their Halloween pumpkin with vanilla frosting whoopie pies to start showing up for half price at that little rack in back ........ whoopie!

Heath's: Life is just better with a half priced whoopie pie and a free courtesy cup of Vermont Coffee Roasters 'lake & lodge' in a styrofoam cup!

Does anyone know what is going on with the property next to Pirates Cove across from the equipment rental on Rte. 3 in Meredith?

There has been a ton of excavating work going on and I'm just curious.

Default ...... it's an insurance agency!

Noticed today a new sign out front the newly constructed, retail store, across from the Meredith town docks, and close to the fire station that was rumored to become a bakery …….. it says ….. 'Meredith Insurance Agency (or Company?), Member Davis & Towle Group' ….. so, it's an insurance agency!

Wonder if I can get a separate insurance policy for my 11' jonboat with two wood oars and NO motor ……. just in case …… can never be too insured on Lake Winnipesaukee!

Default New construction

For you, FLL, in addition to the regular offerings of an insurance company, and in keeping with your keen interest in all things marine, possibly this new insurane company will offer a line of "Insurance Noodles" designed to be wrapped around your 11-foot jon boat, bow to stern, with an accessory kit for side-to-side wrapping. As you say, "You can never be too insured on Lake Winnipesaukee".

I agree, I remember when there was Andersons in Meredith and another one in M'boro, where Kevin bought the building, always full of customers. Yes, grocery stores and Walmart hves one, but they are not the same to anyone with any kind of discerning taste.

Olympia Sports in Meredith and Gilford are closing. Closing sale starts today, Friday, Nov 1.

Maybe a bakery will open in what was the Meredith Olympia Sports, and they re-use old signs ..... name it Olympia Bakery ..... buy one apple strudel ..... get second apple strudel for half price, and sell a single cup of coffee for eight dollars! ..... !

How about a tunnel? Very successful at Attitash!

1971: 48-fast years ago, was also the year when all the land under Hannaford's and the parking lot was filled in with umpteen dump loads of fill for turning the wet lands into a Route 25, retail mecca ..... with what used to be four different retail stores and one restaurant.

Talking about new construction right here in Meredith, believe the Laverack Nature Trail, a boardwalk walking along and through the large watery wetlands behind the Meredith Village Savings Bank is to get built, starting next spring. It will go from the MVSB-atm along the wetlands, and over to the town tennis courts and baseball field.

Check out 'Laverack Nature Trail at Hawkins Brook' on facebook.
