X-Country Skiing in Lakes Region ?
Interested in X-Country Skiing locations around the Lakes Region area.
Would like to know places close to Gilford area, within a 10 mile radius. Locations at either private ski areas or State Park trail system. Thanks, and have a great Christmas and New Years' everyone ! Bigdog Last edited by bigdog; 12-24-2009 at 08:19 AM. Reason: spelling |

Here's a few
Gunstock
Bolduc Park Check with some local golf courses to see if you can ski the property. Wolfeboro has two areas, one on sewall point, and the other one on rte 109. Here's a website for them (over 10 miles, but very well maintained and reasonable). http://www.nordicskiersports.com/

I vote Gunstock Area trails.
However, you can ski along the closed rail road tracks, which is also the path of the Winnipesaukee River Basin's waste water line to the treatment plant in Franklin. It's a nice path from Meredith in the north to Weirs and beyond. |

Snowshoeing
I'd also be intererested in places to snowshoe...besides the lake. Any ideas? Are there trails that would be suitable for snowshoeing?
Also, if there is anyone interested in forming a snowshoe group to meet regularly and get together to snowshoe, please reply. I live in Moultonborough, but would be interested in forming a group in Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Meredith, or Sandwich. We did this in Nashua in the Mines Falls Park along the trails there. We met twice weekly to snowshoe for an hour or more. It was a great time. It's more fun when there is a group! Anyone interested? |

Groomed Trail
We have trails on our golf course that get groomed with a snow mobile and drag. It's Free. We hope to be serving a hot tat-tis by the fireplace soon.
The Mystic Meadows at 2075 Parade RD, Laconia http://www.themysticmeadows.com Would any body be interested in helping organize a cross country ski race fund raiser to help the boys and girls club with their moving expenses? |

Just Be Real, Folks...
Cross country skiing has been shared here All Along. Now, All of the main corridor trails in NH have always welcomed all groups of winter sports, and has taken soooo many to develop over almost as many years that I and my friends have so enjoyed them and then some. " Get Involved, Join A Club ". Oh, and Yes, It will require some elbow grease from those whom are willing to contribute.
Wishing and hoping will only forestall, just put it in motion, and think more y'all. Yes, I have worked on the gates and many bridges, and nothing like the views above the ridges.
