Default Early seaplane on Dan Hole Pond

Seeking information from the community about some pictures that were loaned to me from Camp Sentinel on Dan Hole Pond in Tuftonboro, due to my interest in old airplanes after writing the book about Bob Fogg at the Weirs. So far, what I think I know is that the airplane or aeroplane in two of the pictures is a Bleriot XI, like the one that first flew the English Channel. They were manufactured in the US and the former owner of the Sentinel property, J.A. Brackett of Boston, is listed in an advertisement as owning a Bleriot. If anyone knows more about this little piece of history, I hope they will share with the forum.

A "modern" Blériot with wheels instead of floats:

Member Waco1148 had previously asked about a Winnipesaukee Travel Air seen in a 1929 movie—this is what I answered almost five years ago:

Default Biplane in the photo

It is difficult to be certain, but the one photo with two planes showing has the Bleriot hydroaeroplane in front and what appears to be a Curtiss Model E flying boat in the background. That would put the time frame at or after 1912. You can visit the Glenn Hammond Curtiss Museum website for photos of the Curtiss Model E replica currently flying off Keuka Lake. Better yet, drive over to Hammondsport, NY to visit the Curtiss Museum. Finger Lakes and wine country - so many good reasons to visit!

The EAA museum in Oshkosh has a replica Queen-Bleriot with an original 3 cylinder Anzani engine, air cooled and rather anemic. The Bleriot in these photos has been upgraded with a water cooled upright 4 cylinder engine. Curtiss made those style engines in 1909 and later, as did Roberts and a few other American manufacturers. I can not tell who made the one in the photo, though. I doubt the Bleriot would have ever gotten off the water if it had the Anzani due to the float weights and drag.

Great pics - Post some more!
