Default Picture Size?

I currently shoot all my pics in RAW format. I just tried to place a pic in the Gallery, but the site refused it because it was too large. How do i correctly size my photos for the Gallery? ALBY

Default Use the Save As command.

I assume you have photo editing software on your computer.

Open the picture(s), do whatever editing you want to do, or not, and then click on file, save as.., and then save the picture as a JPG file. You will lose a little of the quality.
I do edit my photo size down to a size no larger than 5x7 and have a picture that fits nicely in the forum, and is still a nice picture to look at.

Hope this helps.

MSpaint does an ok job but there is some quality loss. You can also use Picassa, which is free from google, or of course photoshop or any number of other paid programs.

To use mspaint just open the file and click "resize" and pick your size or ration by percentage,

Mspaint won't open a raw file. Raw files need to be converted to a .jpg format by using software that will do it. Google "convert raw format to .jpg" and you should find some free software to do it.

SteveA made this suggestion back in 2009. It looks like the software is still current:

I use GIMP (graphic image manipulation program) as a cheap alternative to photoshop. It is open source and has most of the same features as ps. Though it may be a little complicated for some. Just google it.

There are certainly many ways to re-size available. I came across "Quick Image Resizer" a couple a years ago and was one the better software programs I have purchased. The icon sits on your desktop. You open it and drag the photo you want to re-size into on open blank area where it's automatically re-sized to blog, thumbnail, small, med, lrg. and xrta lg., whatever you select. It gives you the file size immediately so you can re-select if you need. I use it all the time for emails; it's super handy. Just one you might consider. Happy shooting.
