Default Oh the concerns

Multiple concerns: 150 ft rule, excessive noise, damaging wakes (there goes the shoreline), reckless operation, just to mention a few.
No sign of noodles being used as life preservers, though.

I remember when it first came in. I think it was late 80s maybe early 90s?

The only one of these I'd ever seen was for sale at the Wolfeboro Boat Museum—about 10 years ago. (A donation, perhaps?) The name of the brand was "Skeeter".

It looked terrifyingly dangerous—even for the operator.

My dad rented something similar for me in Florida when I was about 15. The outboard was under a cover just forward of center. No dead man cord. I flipped it on a wave and was thrown in the water. When I surfaced there was the prop spinning to beat the band. The guy we rented from was pissed I didn’t try to right it before the motor sucked seawater. Even at that age I was smart enough to think FU I like my hands and legs!
