Default Fortier sentenced, finally

He still will not admit his guilt. What a low life.

Reading that article made me sick. Community leader? Ya right. He tried to pin it all on Murray who is already locked away in what will end up being a life sentence. Civil suits are still pending, that’s where things will get interesting.

That is what I thought as well. I am sure he blamed his "husband" but they were both into it.

Yep. I do feel badly for his family but he brought this upon himself and them and this was not a "one time" thing either. To say nothing about the damage he has done to the victims and their families.

Who ran the marina last season?
And who is going to run it this season?

Those two answers may infer what the future holds.

It has been run by his sister. I don't think that will have any effect on the final outcome of the civil trials however.

Could that be the civil action against him? He is now in prison for the criminal case but I am sure they would be willing to go after him for the financial damages now.

I'd be a bit surprised if litigation hasn't already been filed civilly seeking an award of damages.

The co-owner(s) might try to "make a deal" to avoid a forced sale, e.g. substitute the victims for Fortier as co-owners, and share management and profits; but I suspect a forced sale would be inevitable.

No, the link listed the date and criminal offense. You don’t get charged for civil action.

The trial itself wasn't what I was thinking.

When he ran it... the sisters seemed happy to just act as passive investors.
If they hired a new management team, then I might infer that they intended to run the marina, and use some other format to keep it.

With this move... it may be just them biding time until a civil trial is put to bed... and a sale can be accomplished.

Several inquiries have been made about purchasing the marina. Some of the inquiries have come from the areas larger players in the marina business and some have come from out of state.

Any sale will be complicated by the potential of existing and future liability claims against the owners.
