A Special Day
June 6th.
Normandy France. Lest we never forget the sacrifice those military/veterans - that lived and died so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today. There is one US cemetery in Normandy with 10,000 crosses and stars. Thank you to all veterans here now and to those who have passed on. |

There is also the German cemetery with 30,000 ground level stones. If you ever have an opportunity, I encourage you to visit Normandy. The movies don’t do justice to the scope (and I am sure the horror) of the battle & the beaches.

Supposedly, the ground-level markers, for/by the Germans, were done that way on purpose to honor the person(s), not the uniform or their part in the war.

Not as visually imposing as the 10,000 white crosses & stars but when you are there & know the numbers, makes you pause.
