Default Overnight slip rentals

I am wondering if any of the marinas on the lake have slips which you can rent on an overnight basis? I understand that you cannot anchor for the night anywhere on the lake, but am interested in sailing from Rattlesnake to Alton Bay, Center Harbor or elsewhere, spend the night at a slip, then return the next day?

Thanks!

Default Today's Economy

I notice last summer there were empty slips in most of the marinas that rent slips on a seasonal basis. One marina that I know of, will rent on an overnight or weekend to keep the money flowing. I'm sure others will do the same. I would call around. Some marinas are actually 'condo slips'. They don't rent out slips. I notice a few 'condo' owners rent out slips and I find some in Craigslist.

As for overnight anchoring, there is a 'loophole' in the law. If you have a day cruiser, i.e. no galley, you can anchor overnight on the lake. You you have a head and a galley, by law you can not. Skip and I have gotten a lot of 'flax' over this. So I am leaving this topic at that.

Default Try Fays

I had a contractor doing some short term work at my island camp and Fays was able to accommodate them. It can't hurt to ask.

Good Luck!

Yes most of the marinas will have transient slips for overnighters. However I know that most of the Condo/owned slips require the owner to rent out for the season and do not allow over night use. You should post this in the boating section as that is where the boaters hang.....

Default Thanks for responses

Thanks for all of the responses--Looking for something at the Meridith, Center Harbor, Moultonboro end of the lake. We have a cabin on Rattlesnake--Thought it would be fun to sail somewhere and spend the night--Certainly schedule is flexible--thanks again
We are just sitting around here dreaming about getting back to the lake!!

If your looking at that end of the lake try Shep Browns, I'm sure with the economy all marinas will be flexible.

Default Try Lakeport Landing Marina

I'm pretty sure they rent slips for single or several overnight stays...

I'm glad this is being discussed. When I heard that no overnighting was allowed on Winnipesaukee, I never asked if that also meant at your own slip or mooring.

You can sleep on your boat at your own slip (provided that Marina approves)?
Same w/ Mooring? anyone know?

Thanks!

Jon

Default NH wesite answer

Here's your answer taken directly from the state of NH Marine Patrol website.

Can I sleep on my boat overnight?
Overnight mooring is illegal in the State of NH, although, it is legal to sleep on your boat overnight while tied to a dock when you have the landowner’s permission. In addition, landowners must notify the Department of Environmental Services in writing.

Jon

Sleeping aboard while in one's own slip is very common at most marinas.

Default Overnight

Some marinas like Minge Cove Marina do not allow overnights. Make sure you find out.
