Default Akwa Marina Beach Bar

Reporting in on my experience at Akwa Marina beach bar. My partner and I arrived with some friends via boat. Nice deck hand met us to assist with docking. There were hornets all over the dock that we had to dodge the short walk to the end of the dock yikes. Ordered a couple of turkey chili’s that were served cold. Seriously? The owner or manager who is from Hart’s Turkey farm was assisting in the kitchen and he allowed the chili to come out cold. Come on really? His name was Eddy or Teddy or something. He looked very disheveled and not a great representation of Hart’s Turkey farm. We also heard him give attitude to some people who we later learned were regulars there for years. They too were disappointed. Service was slow which was understandable for the start of the year. All in all, very disappointed. We won’t be back anytime soon nor will we be visiting Hart’s Turkey farm.

I seem to remember other posts where stinging insects were an issue at Akwa.

I keep my boat at Akwa Marina and never had an issue with hornets or any other insects on the dock or beach between the dock and restaurant

You seem to have the worst luck with local restaurants. Have you considered buying a pre-made sandwich from the nearest Cumberland Farms?

He has both good luck and so-so luck according to history. I believe you call that luck, not the worst luck.

And what is wrong with a Cumbies sandwich? Try one, some are pretty good. You can pick one up locally

Thanks for your feedback. In regards to the hornets, please say something if you see a hornet to the dock hand that helped you. We actively spray what we can see.
Teddy does a great job running the beach bar and we are looking forward to an awesome season.
Yesterday was our members party, I hope some of you were able to enjoy our fireworks

It would appear so Outdoorsman. I agree. To be honest yes I actually have had a pre made breakfast sandwich from Cumberland Farms and they’re really not that bad. I had several awesome experiences this past weekend which I will post about.

Thanks for the info!! My fam is on vacation and we will stop in. Loved the calimari and buffalo wings a couple of weekends ago. Bud Lights were outstanding. Add some live music and that's a winning combination!

Lol...since when has bud light been “outstanding?”
Lmao...maybe if I were digging a trench in 100* Heat and humidity with no other liquid available...
This is not a dig on AKWA! I’m sure it’s a great place to visit! Just found the outstanding bud light comment hilarious!
Carry on!

In the right setting even a Bud Light can be outstanding.

Are there twice in the past week. Good lunch and good drinks. Could dock by Meredith each time as docks were full. It’s a great back up app

Yes! Like I said...in a trench in a hundred degree heat and nothing else to drink!
A bud light would be more than outstanding...it would be life changing!

My wife went there Tues afternoon with a friend and said the food was terrible, she sent it back. I guess I will have to cross this place off my list when I'm with her. But on the bright side, she said the drinks were great.

I've been there many times as I keep my boat there. The drinks are excellent, the food is average so it is good for a quick lunch and a drink so my spot to dinner for sure

I've eaten there numerous times, it is a beach bar, not a fine dining restauraunt. Personally I think the atmosphere makes up for it.

My opinion only,
Bill

It’s all about the view!! Food is ok at best. If I remember it is supported by Hart’s. Which I give two stars out of five. 200 hundred yards away you have a half dozen if not more better dining options

Just passing along my wife's experience which I had to listen to. I know it's not fine dining but it shouldn't be so bad that you can't even eat it.
I'm sure if we do go back there it will be for drinks only.

^ The way I feel about Town Docks. (Though the burgers are ok--tough to mess that up)

The food at Town Docks is much better and the staff there is much better.
Not everyone likes the Common Man restaurants but they do seem to hold on to their management and have a system in place to keep everyone well trained and on the same page.

I've been a half dozen times, and it's always been slow and the staff have been adequate at best. Admittedly, I've not been in three summers as a result.

I like a lot of CM restaurants, but Town Docks (other than ice cream) hasn't been good enough to keep us coming back.

Wife and I decided to go to Akwa Tuesday night before the 4 th, wasn’t too crowded, food was fine, drinks good and service ok, but the views were outstanding! Overall pretty much what you’d expect from a beach bar. The only complaint, and I might be nit picking, the place was dirty, cobwebs all over( I know it’s outside) but take a few minutes and get rid of them..
