As mentioned in this thread, the current server can get overwhelmed during very busy times and the response can be slow, although usually not several minutes. I have a new server almost ready to go that should eliminate this problem.

Traffic on the site has grown about 50% since the spring and we've had several single day records for distinct visitors. The average visitors per day has been 2000-4000. A few weeks ago over 20,000 separate people visited on one day and the server collapsed under the pressure. Again, the new server will have more than enough capacity to deal with heavy traffic. Stay tuned.

Default 39 people signed on....

.........and the wait for response is painful!!
The new server will be a very welcome addition. It's getting harder and harder to sneak in a little Winni Forum time at work.
I appreciate the work it takes to maintain this site and support the sponsors whenever I can.
Thanks

Default noon traffic

Rolie, 12:47 was your posting time for the comment on site speed. Could also be your company web link as everyone is surfing the web at lunch hour as you were and sharing your outbound/incoung connection. I work in a company of over 1,000 people and the network bogs down and traffic peaks durin gthe day between 11:30am and 1pm.

That's correct.

I posted a site that helps people avoid malware, spyware, viruses, and Trojans and alerts people of scams, such as some Hurricane Katrina aid scams, and also of Windows updates. This was done in an effort to allow self-help for viewers of this site. The people at that site volunteer their time and effort and knowledge to help others for free. This is what I shared with viewers of this site, because some, as yourself, have experienced unhappiness with their system.

Some tell me I don't know anything about computers and they are correct.

My computer is doing just fine, though.

Why is yours not?

P.S. - My computer is somewhat "home grown" in that I ordered some parts about a year ago and put them together and installed some software. I visit some helpful sites upon occasion and have managed to avoid your negative experience of pop-ups and a slow system.
