I think a problem could be the distance between so many people. I am personally only in NH for about one month a year. beyond that I am in PA. But if there are any nice looking young ladies who are interested...

Sounds like a great idea.

I'll even go first:

Sincere, caring man seeks same in female.
Age and race are unimportant. The person inside is what matters.
Whatever your personality is will be fine with me. I am easy to get along with.
However, you must like boating, and you must have your own boat.
Please send a picture of your boat.

Actually, I am married, so I won't be playing. But I still think its a good idea.

Rob, I have tears rolling down my cheeks on that one!
I won't be playing either. It would just make Rattlesnake Guy angry.
WBB, this does sound like a good idea. Some single people need to hop on into this thread. Kind of like dances in high school. Until a few people go out onto the floor, there is no interest.
Frdxplorer, many members are from PA, they all can’t be guys!

Default Married response to a single opportunity

I received this from a friend and boy does this fit the temptation to consider the single scene:

Marty wakes up at home with a huge hangover. He forces himself to open
his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins and a glass
of water on the side table. He sits down and sees his clothing in front of
him, all clean and pressed. Marty looks around the room and sees that it
is in perfect order, spotless, clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the
aspirins and notices a note on the table "Honey, breakfast is on the
stove, I left early to go shopping, Love you."

So he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and
the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Marty asks,
"Son, what happened last night?" His son says, "Well, you came home after 3
A.M., drunk and delirious. Broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and gave
yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door."

Confused, Marty asks, "So, why is everything in order and so clean, and
breakfast is on the table waiting for me?" His son replies,
"Oh that!
Mom dragged you to the bedroom,
and when she tried to take your pants off, you said,
"Lady, leave me alone, I'm married!"

A self-induced hangover - $100.00
Broken furniture - $200.00
Breakfast - $10.00
Saying the right thing - priceless!!

As for myself,

Happily married to the greatest lady in the world and I tell her that all the time.
My kids are my pride and joy
Love living in New Hampshire

Default Yup, you got that right....

I've been married for more than 36 years to my high school sweetheart, never met anyone else I rather be with. And to make it even worse for you all, of our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and all of our friends on both sides also have been married forever too. In fact I don't know anyone who is single.... Although, I did have a friend once who was on his fifth wife, but our friendship didn't last more that a few months, I guess he couldn't believe we all make an effort to get along, he couldn't take it any longer, divorced his wife and move back to South Carolina, we never heard from him again.

Must be something in the water up here... How many people do you know that are single for whatever reason? Where do you come from maybe that make the differents?

Well, I'm not native to NH (born and raised in NJ) and am one year into my second marriage. Neither sibling is married, Mom & Dad still are so that's cool. I'd say it's 50/50 with friends: some may as well be married and others should not even consider it!

Perhaps it's my generation. I see a lot more people preferring to live in sin than get married. As for me, marriage is a good thing. My spouse is the greatest!

Wow, I'm assuming (and hoping), that your "live in sin" comment was a joke.

Sorry to disappoint you Ski Man. I am sure some forum goer can find stats someplace to support the reality that more couples than ever opt not to get married and choose to live together instead. I see this more with couples that have met while each was financially and emotionally independent. One couple I know mentioned that they are better off tax wise and choose not to have any joint accounts or debt. Another couple I know has been together for 20+ years and will never be married!

Question A good poll?

Weirs Beach Boater, since you started this, maybe you can put together a forum poll.
Possible questions, if I am remembing correctly there can be 10:

Are you single woman and live in the Lakes Region?
Are you single woman and live in NH?
Are you single woman and live in MA?
Are you single woman and live in another New England state?
Are you single woman and live outside New England?

Are you single man and live in the Lakes Region?
Are you single man and live in NH?
Are you single man and live in MA?
Are you single man and live in another New England state?
Are you single man and live outside New England?

Default Bachelorhood At Winni

Having been single most of my life around Winnipesaukee (now in Boston and very happy with my great girlfriend), I can tell you it is a pretty lonely place!

This would be an excellent place for like-minded (lake lovers) to get together, though. I got tired of dating people who didn't like coming to the lake as much as I did..."Why do we always have to go to the lake every weekend?" or "Can't we go to the Cape or Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket?" Man, that got old.

Fortunately, my present girlfriend has just successfully passed my patented "Four Season Test". Loves golf and biking in the fall, skiing in the winter, traveling in the Spring (get it out of the system before the summer starts), then the lake in the summer. She had never been on the lake before this summer, but now she is a fanatical wakeboarder and a devoted boater. She's my best friend and a keeper. And I promise we won't live in sin too much longer!

So good luck, WBB...it seems like you are on the right track!
