Default Otter

When on the ice today I noticed a trail left by an otter. His paw print was much bigger than a large dog's. The trail goes from my neighbors open water by his dock straight for 1,000ft to the open water under the GI bridge. Saw this otter once on the ice last winter from a distance. He has to be pretty big. Anyone else have otter sightings?

Have you noted said otter making appearances in the summer? I would not think that he would migrate to far in the summer months but then why I could be wrong about that.

A paw print larger than a large dog sounds like a pretty big foot for an Otter, isn't it??

Default Paw

Wish I could remember how to post a photo to show how big the print was frozen in the ice. I saw the otter this morning running across the ice. He didn't look as big as his paw would indicate. I was impressed how fast he ran.

Well an otter print 9cm X 10.5cm = 3.5" X 4.1" is still in the pretty good size dog range.
