Default Jimmy Buffet Passes

I’m sure we have all played his music in our boats at one time or another…

Let’s all tip a glass to him today!

RIP Jimmy!

I was literally just reading about this, and it made me terribly sad.

As you said, his music was an integral part of the backdrop of my and millions of others lives.

Cheers to the memories of a good one.

I had been to MANY of his Labor Day shows at Greatwoods (as he still called it). Always great shows. There was a year His Hemisphere Dancer plane buzzed the lake on his way to a Maine airplane meetup.
He will be missed but NEVER forgotten
Must have been why he was at a Boston hospital this spring. My guess would be cancer

I live a few miles from "Great Woods" and that's what everyone still calls it. If you mention "Xfinity Center" you get funny looks!! You can tell when he was in town due to the increase in folks wearing Hawaiian shirts and leis

I’ll be having a cheeseburger in paradise tonight. Maybe I’ll run into a chum with a bottle of rum…. Jimmy Buffet always brings me back to the lake regardless of where I am.

He was a regular fixture at the seaplane fly-ins at Moosehead Lake. He was a great friend of my best friend who lives on Varney Point. He always does a fly-by to let Bruce know he is in the area.

Going to miss him. Godspeed.

What a wonderful legacy to have brought joy to so many of us, and a giant as both a musician and a businessman. I especially like this piece because it captures his contradictions and complexity--not just a lovable bumbling rogue, but also shrewd and driven

My FB post on Jimmy Buffett this morning:

A lifetime of various memories, many of them in summer. Concerts at Great Woods, seeing and being inspired by the drunkest Parrotheads. A catalogue like a soundtrack to summer days from childhood to partyhood to parenthood and back again.
At Fenway in September 2004, he played a weird medley of “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” “Purple Rain,” and “Sweet Caroline” but in the revelry and the lights I swear I thought for the first time that maybe we really had a chance to win the whole fricking World Series. “Lone Palm” deeply affected me at age nineteen. All those sailing songs that made me want to get a … motorboat. “A Pirate Looks At Forty.” “One Particular Harbor.” “Come Monday.” “Coast of Carolina.” Neither of us have time to list them all, I know. There were so many.
I always somehow thought he would make to 86. Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic. Rest in peace, Jimmy Buffett, and thank you for entertaining and being able to hit the tropical fun button and all the emotion buttons, often in the same verse-bridge-chorus run. Immortalized by the songs, and already greatly missed.

Meadowbrook, Great Woods, and Harbor Lights.

Though I sometimes still call Great Woods the Tweeter Center as I worked at Tweeter during its prime and saw a bunch of shows there.

Looking back at a LOT of your threads, you sure like correcting people and talking down to them. Is this what you want to be know as? Hope not. ALCOHOL KILLS MANY MANY MORE people then pot does. So PLEASE do not drink booze any more, it's killing you and the people around you. Thanks in advance for watching out protecting your love ones with no more drinking.

YES, YOU are one of those. !!

You should be a shamed of yourself for bringing up something so trivial during a sad and sorrowful day for the OUR Country and for his friends.

haha I don’t drink and I don’t do drugs, though the formal is legal activity. If I were to do drugs I would be neither proud of nor cavalier about it. To each his own, though, I’m not talking down or correcting anyone. It was just odd to see an admission to drug use on a wholesome forum like this.

Also I don’t believe that the death of an entertainer is a sorrowful event for an entire country. To the extent that it has affected you, though, the grief will subside and you’ll always have the music.
