Terhi boats
Does anyone have any experience with Terhi boats? I am considering purchasing a 2000 Terhi 4100 (13ft.) with a 25 hp Mercury for my kids but I have never of them and I can't seem to find any info on the web.

Terhi boats are built in the small Finnish fishing village of Rymättylä...
“... home to centuries of traditional sea-faring and boat building. While respecting the old ways, and utilizing modern technology,Terhi has built over 160,000 boats in the past 30 years. From the start, Terhi shared the goal of boat builders through the ages: to develop and manufacture safe, durable boats equal to the demands of the sea.”

Terhi boats
Had seen Terhi at Irwin's and they looked like a very well made, small fiberglass boat. Made in Norway where they have high standards for just about everything, epecially boats, remember Lief Erickson, and good enough for Irwin Marine. What's not to like?

Whoops, make that abs plastic and 'made in Finland.' Small boats are, in my opinion a lot more fun than big boats. Lots of homes will have a big 24'er or so and then a 15' outboard boat. Which is more fun? Sort of like the dif between driving a truck vs driving a sports car plus small boats are more challenging and give one a feeling of being closer to the water. It's all relative. And then there are the 8000 lb, 32', 600 - 1200 hp go-fast boats, w/ the loud exhaust driven by some moron.

Same make, yes. I ended up buying one used not long after that post. I kept it for a couple of summers until my kids were able to drive a boat with a bigger engine. I traded it in to Shep's for a 150 Montauk back in '07.

We found that the bench seat was too far aft for proper balance, and with two adults it was difficult to get the boat up on a plane even at full throttle. We had to put a "sand tube" (around 70 pounds if I remember correctly) in the forward anchor compartment in order to get the boat to plane, and even then the passenger had to temporarily move forward in order for the boat to get up on a plane. With the fore/aft balance issue, the boat was underpowered with the 25hp Merc. With one adult it could get up on a plane in a reasonable period of time, but with two adults it was a "tank". I consider the Terhi 4100 inadequate for Winnipesaukee. On a small lake with no chop it might be good for kids, I suppose, but not on Winnipesaukee. Ours had trouble getting out of its own way.
