Default Sounds of the Lake now online

A couple years ago one of my friends and I were listening to the fading thunder of a summer storm on the lake and he said, "You've got to find a way to record that and post it online." A few weeks ago I finally did.

I posted the first few "sounds of the lake" at www.thesilentforest.com/sounds.html, and there's also a link on the front of the Black Cat WeatherCam site (www.blackcatnh.com).

I hope these will help you take the lake wherever you go. Enjoy!

Default I listened!

I go to your website everyday and watch the time lapse pictures from your webcam. I noticed your sound bytes last week and listened. Brings me right back to the lake. The thunderstorm is awesome!

Default Very talented

This is great. Have you considered a full length DVD?

Very cool, Mike. I like "The Lake at Night" the best because of the beautiful changing pictures. You should be a photographer

Nice job.

Default Thank you

Thank you for the compliments. A full length DVD is a great idea! For now I'm using a stereo digital voice recorder with an external mic, and adding file photos in Windows Movie Maker.

Someone just PM'd me to say she had some professional-quality video and sound recordings of the lake that I can post, and I'm interested. Who knows, maybe this project will grow.

I suggested to her that maybe we should ask the webmaster about starting a "MediaPost" section for video and audio clips.

Default lake sounds

Mike,

Excellent combination of still photography and audio. I particularly like the lake at night. Nice subtle use of multiple photos in the morning piece, the mist moves just enough to notice.

I think you might be on to something with a DVD. I have several; surf on a remote Pacific beach, a Cape Cod rain storm......why not a Lake Winni sunset? The only question, how do you record an hour of audio without a loud boat going by?

Mark

A distant neighbor just tested two 4 foot tall speakers on his beach and played "Rap sounds". I'd suggest recording any audio before Memorial Day.

We could always go with "bikeweek sounds" and sell them to out of town bikers!
