New insurance
Need to find a local insurance agent with our full time move to the lake. Melcher and Prescott has not been very responsive. Has anyone had any experience with the Insurance Outlet or Meredith Insurance agency? Do you have any other suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Take a look at AMICA. We have been with them for decades. AMICA even wrote a commercial policy for us when all others required us to give them all our other requirements, at the time they did not write commercial policies.

Allstate, Meredith NH: Jennifer Stevens
Their Allstate office is close to the Meredith roundabout, up on the second floor.
Basically, just stop in there, anytime, with a list of questions and you will like what they have to say. I guarantee it! ......

Allstate in Wolfeboro has our house and automobile insurance, and we have no complaints. Not long after we signed up with them, we had a huge claim…flood damage to our house, and they paid dearly for that one. Jon Clark is the agent.

Usaa
I've used USAA for over 50 years., Get a dividend check in December, and several hundred dollars "Senior Bonus" in February. I also have several thousand $$ in a "Subscriber Savings Account) which I would get when I leave. That's how they handle reserves. Qualified people on the phone 24/7, so I don't have to wait 'til Monday am for the office to open. Had some water damage to a residential property a few years ago. I knew it wasn't covered, but they were happy to send out a local adjuster "just in case there is something that might be covered." I like that attitude.

Rugman- please reach out to Randy Eifert at P&C President at Melcher & Prescott. This service issue is not typical and we’d like to resolve it ASAP for you

I have a high credit score. No loans. No mortgages. No car loans.
No insurance claims. No criminal offenses. Nothing negative. Newer home on level lot. On paved road. AMICA would not insure me. No reason given. Amica does have a good reputation though. Few years ago. My homeowners went up in cost. Asked a few friends. ALL had recommendations. One was Allstate. This ftormf switched to Allstate and saved couple hundred dollars in premiums. He switched to Allstate. Happy. Happy. Happy. But, Allstate sent out a home inspector and found $3,850 in upgrades and repairs needed for Allstate insurance to continue. So how much did this fellow save in homeowners insurance. Yes. Some companies send out an inspector. Some now are using drones to view condition of roof. |

To the OP:
Wny do you need a "local" insurance agent? I discovered The Hartford when we joined AARP; their prices seem unbeatable. The key is to do what Flo says and "bundle."

Correct. Went through the same this year. 30% increases no claims. Fortunately we did the roof in 18. With that said, I have no issue with insurance companies looking over and asking questions

I have Liberty Mutual on our island property. They are outstanding. I filed my first claim ever last year although I only had LM for 3 years. (My wife found them on the internet and set everything up on line or over the phone). I was girded for battle but it turned out to be the easiest process imaginable. Just filed my first claim for water damage at home. Looks like it is heading the same way. LM may have a customer for life.

I had Hanover Insurance for the Gilford house and the cars for years. I did some price checking and I got a lower quote on my cars from Progressive. I told my insurance agent that and he switched the homeowners and the vehicles to Progressive. There was a significant savings.
Last week Progressive sent out an inspector to view the property from the exterior and file a report. I have a boathouse and now know that Progressive will not insure any property over water. They cancelled my insurance. Oh well, I enjoyed the savings for two months and now my insurance agent is rate shopping again. |

We've had State Farm for 17 years.
I'm not sure how the costs compare because it doesn't matter if the service isn't excellent, and our local office—Dan Bantham in Merrimack—always exceeds my expectations. They just make things so easy. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |

I second 'Insurance Outlet' in Laconia.
They are 'Independent insurance Brokers, and shop many brands for the best price and coverage. They have provided excellent service to me for home & auto insurance for more than a decade ! |

Plymouth, NH is home to some excellent, excellent independent insurance agencies ..... www.noyesins.com on Main St and www.insurance24.com on Tenney Mtn Hgwy and Allstate-Sharon Thorne on Main St.
All three different insurance agencies are run by woman, who seem to do a hell of a good job, and a lot better than a man who probably would get incredibly bored sitting around there, all day long? Basically, you just go there with your list of insurance questions, and you will like what you hear ....... I guarantee it!

Jennifer Stevens with Allstate. I use Hagerty for antique vehicles- they know old stuff and do agreed value policies.

My 2 cents below.
I have worked on all sides of property claims. Restoration vendor for 2 years. Liberty Mutual staff adjuster for 1 year (7 managers) and now a public (private) adjuster that is hired by the home owner to handle the claim on their behalf for over 11 years With that being said get a local agent. A local agent will connect you with a local company such as Andover, Arbella, Concord Group, Norfolk & Dedham, Union Mutual etc. these are all far better companies than any company you see on TV. Yes rates have gone up, so have home values and everything else. This is one area you do not want to cut a corner, god forbid the worst happens. Your agent will be able to place you with the best company for your property. Some homes on the lake should be with private cliental groups such as AIG, Chubb, Pure etc. Feel free to reach out of you have any questions. Hopefully no one ever needs to call their company! |
