Default 2012 Gas Prices

The old post has a mix of last year and this year...let's keep it all 2012.

5/19/2012: $4.10/gal @ Mountain View Yacht Club.

Reread the first post (combination of both new and old) - there has been confusion so why continue it.

How many people have smartphones on the lake?

If so, why not report gas prices using the 'GasBuddy' app? I use it all the time on the road. It could be very useful and very real-time.

Of course the winnigas.com website was someone's alternate good idea too.

Default Gasbuddy

I don't find any of the marinas on the Laconia, meredith, Gilford area. I even check for midgrade and premium prices.

Ron at lakeport Landing mentioned pumping 6,000 gallons of gas last weekend. That's a lot of gas from one marina!

Perhaps there are no on the lake gasbuddy reports because no boaters have started using it?

I'll try to make some reports when I'm finally on the lake and buying gas.

I also sent an email to the creators of gasbuddy and asked them to add a 'marine' or 'boating' option to gasbuddy. I think this could help most mariners, not just us!

I was speaking with a marina owner last weekend about gas prices. He said the price they pay for gas is dependent on the size of their tank. The smaller the tank the higher the wholesale price is.

I think the winnigas.com site is a good one, as it's winni specific.

But I thought I'd let everyone know that gasbuddy got back to me to thank me for the idea to have an option to cover boats. So keep an eye on an update in the future!

In the mean time, I'll try gasbuddy and/or winnigas.com, both which make it easy to report prices live while you're on board and are currently loaded into my smartphone.

I hope everyone is also updating the www.winnigas.com website (if you have a smart phone, also update the Gas Buddy app).

This will allow us to easily check gas prices on the lake without having try to login to this forum.

7/15 $3.90 at Mountain View YC

Check your receipt before leaving the dock, the pump showed $3.89 when I gassed up. Later that night checking the receipt, it showed $3.90/gal, yeah I know $.001 per gallon difference. is MVYC the only ones that do this?

In this day and age most people don't even take or keep the pennies from change back received. Why would we still be using 9/10 of a cent in a price structure for fuel. 20 gallons is 2 cents different after rounding up.

has to do with rounding up to get the most tax out of us without calling it a full cent of a tax. think of all those 9/10 of a cent times billions of transactions every week. it adds up quick

Obscure reference: the movie office space when the put the virus in and he puts the decimal in the wrong place instead of taking tenths of a cent, they tax too much.

I get gas on the road and the price is always x.xx9, and the receipt always shows the correct price.

It may round up to a few cents (on my boat about 100 gallons), so the way I figure it, that $0.10 is mine, not theirs.
