Yes I agree, the Laconia Laker's is a decent name since the 8 1/2 x 11," city, official, paper letterheads and motor vehicle signage like police & dpw for Laconia says "Laconia - City of the Lakes," which is a reference to Lakes Winnisquam, Opeechee, and Winnipesaukee."

Laconia High School has had the "Laconia Sachems," with a drawing of a red skin indian for their high school athletic symbol for many years, so Laconia Lakers would be an original name.....at least locally....way east of Los Angeles.

Sounds good.....the Laconia Lakers....go-team-go!
............

Let me toss this suggestion out here.

The LACONIA W.O.W's or just THE WOW's

wow....what-a-name.......get it..... THE WOW's!

After each home run.....picture this..... the whole bleachers will stand....do a big human wave....and all scream.....like WOW!

there going to the robbie mills complex on meredith center road. nice facility but it needs quiet a bit of improvements to get 1,500 into it, lots of articles in the citizen about it.

the problem with the laconia lakers is that "lakers" are meredith schools mascots, ok by me since we've recently moved there but some in meredith my object.

i like the laconia abnaki's myself

Default Location?

Is that the small complex right across the street from Meredith Center Store? Can't be. Too small.

Laconia Lunkers....not far from laconia lakers, just a bit more "fishy".

nope, robbie mills is on the laconia end of meredith center road, just up the hill from rt. 106 on the left before you get to the city dump (on the right). its the cities babe ruth field for now, but you could still call it that small complex though....

Default ....laconia muskrats!

In case you missed the big news....the new official name of the Laconia baseball team, as chosen by the father-son owners, is the LACONIA MUSKRATS!

Previously, when home park was in Connecticutt it was the Silkworms.....so the Silkworms have metamorphosed into the LACONIA MUSKRATS.

Yesterday's newspaper said the owners wanted a water based name and decided to stay away from the Laker's as it was already taken and someone from Moultonborough suggested MUSKRAT.

From the lower parking lot behind the new Laconia Walgreen's it is definately possible to see a large, live muskrat or two or three swimming about in the Winnipesaukee River. So, how about that?.....................duh!

Default hmm

Not crazy about Muskrats' connotation of rodents. Not sure if they're even in the same biological species, but aren't they trying improve the perception of the city? (My 2 cents)

I would have liked a vote on a website, even if that was only taken into consideration. I wonder what some of the other top suggestions are? (disclaimer, I entered zero)

Well....I entered the name 'Black Flies' and am pleased with the choice of 'Muskrats.' That seems like a good name for a baseball team, just like the Brooklyn Bums, or something. Way-to-go Muskrats!

Laconia: Onward and upward 2009; WOW River Trail for bicycles under construction, Winnipesaukee River kayak & canoe launch-a concrete designer ramp put-in access to Lake Winnisquam from the Laconia City Hall town green, Robbie Mills baseball field improvements ongoing, new CVS, new Walgreen's, new MVSB, and The Muskrats. Not too shabby for a recession-depression year!

Does Laconia have any outside public tennis courts hidden away somewhere?

When the Robbi Mills Ball field was thought up and designed, who payed for it?
Did Laconia pay or was it people who donated to the Robbi Mills Foundation?

The Laconia Muskrats?

Not exactly a stimulating visual, but I guess it beats The Laconia Black Flies.

Gotta call them something, I suppose.

Default Robbie Mills Field

We played Laconia high there a few years back and that place is really really small. Pop ups were flying out of there. Can they extend the outfield fence? They would have to do major renevations to that field to hold quality college players.

Default To Cover The Season....

Just in case we get some snow, I think the best name for the Laconia team would be, 'Piches Bulldozers'! What say?

there moving the fences way out, dunno how much though. there spending $225k or so to update everything, new bleachers, press box, etc. should be nice when there done.

Default Theme Song!

So if they go with the Laconia Muskrats, does that mean the PA will play "Muskrat Love" every time there is a home run?
