Default Consolidated's Fidium Fiber Coming to Moultonboro

Fiber is coming to the Moultonboro area within a few months! Speeds of 1Gigabit/second (maybe 2) for both download and upload will be offered. Promotional prices will be less than Spectrum, but even better, many that only have DSL or satellite available now will be able to get the service.

Here is Fidium's press announcement.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT: Fiber Internet Expansion

Construction begins in the Moultonborough- area, as Fidium Fiber expands multi-gig service to more than 6,000 homes and businesses

What: Fidium Fiber is expanding service of its all-fiber internet network to more than 6,000 homes and businesses in the Moultonborough-area, including Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Meredith and Tuftonboro.

Construction is scheduled to begin as soon as February 15. Through this fiber expansion, thousands of local residents and business owners in these communities will have access to Fidium’s multi-gig speed fiber internet service.

The work of installing new fiber optic lines along roads and in public utility areas requires some digging and climbing of utility poles. Crews will be working along the edge of private property within the public right-of-way and/or public utility easements. This work may require some temporary traffic detours, noise and dust. Paint markings and/or flags may be placed in areas where construction is active. Flags will be removed once work is complete in the area. Crews will work quickly, clean up after themselves and will aim to minimize any disruption.

We know this work could be inconvenient for our community and appreciate your patience while we upgrade neighborhoods to 100% fiber internet. More information on the fiber build progress will be shared with town and city officials, as well as residents. Mailers, door hangers and construction alerts will be distributed to keep the public informed, and Fidium representatives will be visiting neighborhoods to share more about what to expect during construction and how to sign up to be the first notified as soon as service is ready to install.

To learn more about the fiber internet construction process and sign up for updates on our progress, visit FidiumFiber.com/Expanding. Residents with specific construction questions or concerns should contact 1.877.769.4771.

When: Fiber infrastructure construction will begin soon in the local community, with exact start dates varying by location.

Where: Construction will impact specific areas in areas of Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Meredith and Tuftonboro, noted in the image and link below. noted in the images and links below. Maps show the general area where construction will take place. To check your address for service availability, visit FidiumFiber.com.

Default Onboard

I've been on Fiber (GoNetSpeed) at my winter home for over 3 years now. I will definitely sign up for at least 1 gig service. Having guests at the lake house with current cable service was frustrating at times, particularly when one or more of them were on Zoom calls. I too am curious, as phoenix asked, whether we can subscribe seasonally.

From Fidium's web site:

Vacation suspend or restore

Manage your service during time away with special options from Fidium
Fidium offers seasonal suspension of services for our customers who are on vacation or find themselves away for a long period. If you own a vacation property, close your business or limit business operations during certain times of the year, a seasonal suspension of service might be right for you. It allows you to put your internet and/or phone service on “vacation” while you’re away and easily restore when you return. You can seasonally suspend service for up to 6 months each calendar year.

You can also pay less to keep your service installed while you are away. Instead of paying full price, you’ll only pay $10.00 per month while your home or business internet service is seasonally suspended. And, since you can’t use our VoIP phone service without having a working internet connection, we won’t charge you for phone service while you are away. To learn more about this, click "Ask Fidium" to chat with us online, or call 1.844.4.FIDIUM (1.855.475.7376).

Restoring seasonal service
When you’re ready to use your service again, just call 1.844.4.FIDIUM (1.855.475.7376).

Restoring seasonal service to full active status is free. It can be done within 24 hours of your request and no in-person appointment is required.

Please note that we do charge a reconnect fee if we need to restore your service after it has been disconnected for non-payment.

We have Spectrum for internet, TV, and phone. With Fidium, there would be internet and phone (via VOIP), but what about TV for regular broadcast shows? How does that work? Also, what speed is still "pretty good," without going for maximum speed?

Fidium partners with third parties for a streaming TV package, including Live TV (regular broadcast shows) so you can buy via Fidium or subscribe directly to the third party, such as Google TV, Direct TV, Fubo, Hulu and Sling. Fidium offers a VOIP service with unlimited calling but there are others such as Vonage. Details here:https://www.fidiumfiber.com/streaming-tv

As for speeds, their lowest offering at 100 Mbps service for the promo price of $25/month is enough for several people to stream their own shows. If you start there and find that you need more, it is easy to upgrade to 300 Mbps, 1 gig or 2 gig.

Default It is happening!

Trucks are all over town this week lashing fiber to existing lines. This picture is from Shaker Jerry Rd. Most areas in town will get fiber, except for the TDS area near Tuftonboro and Sheridan Rd homes on the Sandwich exchange. People that pre-order should be live before June.
