Squirrels and chipmunks, oh my

I can't seem to find the thread where people were discussing the lack of chipmunks this year. When we were there last week, though, we saw more chipmunks than we have EVER seen. At one point, there were six playing on our lawn. I know there are those of you who are not so fond of these furry critters, but I kind of like chipmunks. (I have NO use for squirrels, however.)

It's odd. Even here in Jersey, there seem to be more chippies than usual although the number of squirrels remains, sadly, constant.

Has anyone noticed more chipmunks rather than fewer?

We also are overrun with chipmunks this year. Maybe the long winter under several feet of snow .......
