Default Local Artist

Looking to get a custom painting done of a lake landscape. Basically something to hang on our wall in our Chester home during the winter to remind us of the lake during the summer.

Can anyone recommend a good local artist who would be willing to take this on next spring / summer.

Thanks!!

I do not know if she does commissions , but Christine of Gallery 51 on Main Street in Meredith does beautiful work.

Default Artists

Dan, nice idea. You could also try contacting one of the galleries in Sandwich as I know there are some artists who paint local scenery and show their work there. Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery is one, www.patricialaddcarega.com,
and Surroundings Art Gallery is another, www.surroundingsart.com.

Default the artists

On the Sorroundings Art Gallery site you can have fun looking at samples of each artist's work and get an idea of their styles, etc. Look at the "sale" section too and you can see that the subjects are local.

Dan, I know it isn't local but there is a man in a kiosk at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua. I have had him do portaits of my daughter a few times as she grows, you give him a pic of what you want done and a few weeks later it's done and framed. I paid $125.00 for the last one 2 years ago but I called and prices are the same. Can't sat enough about his quality work,he has a gallery on Cape Cod.

Thanks!! That's a great site and I noticed that "Celia Judge" is one of the artists noted. She is another I will be in touch with.

Thank you all for your replies. Looks like there are many to choose from.

If anyone is personally familiar with or had work done by any local artist already noted or not, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Default Peter Ferber

The Art Place on Main St in Wolfeboro has a huge selection of Peter Ferber paintings and prints, and also do framing.

If what they have is not to your liking, they may be able to talk to Peter about doing a custom picture for you.

Here is a link to their website: http://www.theartplace.biz/

I can personally, strongly, support the suggestion of Peter Ferber (The Art Place, Wolfeboro, NH (569-6159). He truly understands the emotional atmosphere of the Lakes region. A phone call never hurt.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you.

Not to derail this thread but is the Loran Percy gallery open anymore? I had an aunt who studied with him and wondered if there was any information about his students or anything of that sort...

There is no one better than Donna Manning in Laconia. She did the restoration of the antique wallpaper at the Coe House and she makes flowers and foliage 'come alive"
Also,we have found her to be very reasonable.

I can highly recommend Cindy House (www.cindyhouse.com). She is a truly delightful woman and an exceptionally talented artist. My wife and I own two of her originals and commissioned her to paint my Aunt's daffodil field in Tuftonboro a few years ago.

We used this guy to paint our family home after it was sold, as a gift. We gave him several pictures, asking for a compilation - things like "from the angle in this photo, but showing leaves in place like in this photo, and this piece from this photo....

The result was fantastic.

For the person who asked about Loran Percy, he has passed number years ago.

Have a look at Hawkins Photography & Framing on Main Street, Meredith. He's done some fantastic panorama images; he's been studying painting enhancements.

Another vote for Peter Ferber. I have lots of his beautiful paintings hanging on my walls here in Oklahoma. And he does "get" the lake. He has been on it since he was a little kid. Those little things (that all of us who have have been head over heels with Winni our entire lives) love, he loves and it shows in his work. He loves the Big Lake like we all do.

Yet another one for Peter Ferber. I agree with all that has been said here. We have several of his pieces. I am sure you can talk him into doing something custom, especially if it is an interesting view he can sell to others.
