Default Meredith: Lakeview Tavern

Looks like it's about ready to open, but no signs out or online PR that I've noticed. Does anyone know when they plan to open the doors? Thanks

Yup, opening Monday. They have chicken fingers and fries so I'll be trying it out. Pool table, foosball table and a couple of dart boards. I can see this place doing a good business in that spot

Default Frog Rock...

Never been, but a fairly recently opened place further up on Main St. is going to feel some extreme competition. I think Gary, from Crazy Gringos is a partner of Frog Rock.

This place is around the corner from George's Diner.

Mmmmm...wings!

Do they have a website or facebook page yet? I searched but couldn't find anything.

My sons girl friend works there so she had a menu at home. She worked opening night, Monday and the place had a good steady crowd. Went by last night and the place looked packed again

Default Went Wed. night...

Very nice...And, to my surprise, you can see the Lake! Didn't try the food, but the menu looked good.

I wish them success. At first I thought it would be competition for The Frog Rock, but another bar moving into the same area may not be competition, but an additional attraction to the area, bringing in more people who "bar hop". Maybe it will fill the void left by the demise of Mame's.

I have looked all over the internet and all I can find are two rave reviews on Yelp. Nothing on tripadvisor and since I don't use Facebook can't comment on that one. Remember they have been open less than a week. Few businesses hit the ground running in perfect order the first week.

There are 3 5star reviews on Yelp. 2 negative reviews on Google.

Given that they just opened, and according to one of the negative posters, they got the last seat in the house... Sounds like they were busy. Personally, I could cut them some slack.

If it is that noisy, then would be a negative for me; my hearing is not what it used to be. Still would like to see some regular posters go there and give a good review. Wish they had a website or FB page.

Can only see one Yelp one without the app and, to be honest, I don't trust that site anyway.

I know it's new and the kinks may not be worked out, but with a wife and two chillens I kinda need reliability now.

It's much closer to us, so I'm hoping things work out!

...on Friday @5. Sat at the bar, but it took some time before someone noticed we were there. Buffalo chicken wings were good. Beer selection was limited to 3 of 5 taps, though there were more options in the cooler.

They bill themselves as a tavern and have pool tables etc. Not what I would have in mind for the wife and kiddies. Sounds more like a place for the young and restless as they are open until midnight.

Nope! Not at midnight, but as an early dinner place with a table in the front windows looking out on to Main St. and the Lake? You won't see a "pool table" or any other frightening things.

I have not tried the food, but to say you can't bring your wife or children there because it's a tavern?

...Ever been to Tavern 27?

Don't limit yourself and family too easily...IMHO!

They do have a FB page! It's under The Lakeview Tavern.

Default Closed yesterday

We went by yesterday afternoon and they were closed. Note on the door said they were closed to restock. Seemed odd since they just opened 6 days earlier.

We stopped Saturday night to try it out. As soon as we walked in we noticed how loud it was and were skeptical about liking it. But when we remembered it was a tavern and it was supposed to be loud because people are there to have a good time it wasn't so bad. When the food arrived (salads and chicken parms) we were very pleased. The chicken had a nice breading and was very tender and the sauce was very tasty. We saw some good looking burgers go by and will have to give that a try next. Well done! We'll be back!

I've been twice now.

The first time I had a pleasant time at the bar. The female bartender was very nice and attentive with excellent boundaries.

The second time I sat at a table on the left side of the restaurant around 4 o'clock. Although promptly greeted by one server and given a menu, I was then ignored until I left after exactly 10 minutes. It was not busy and I made eye contact with many employees standing around but not one approached me to take my order.

I'll try again though, there's only so much Common Man for this common man.

You sure do seem to have very bad experiences with restaurants in the Lakes Region. McDonalds is located at the intersection of Rte 3 & 104.

Fast food isn't a restaurant.

You are technically incorrect. The vast majority of RESTAURANT food served in this country is "fast food".

Default Merriam-Webster defines a "restaurant"

Full Definition of restaurant

: a business establishment where meals or refreshments may be purchased

Don't ya just luv Merriam-Webster, an unofficial, but very respected arbitrator of some stupid disputes!

We decided to try the new Lakeview Tavern on Friday night. They were busy, and it was pretty noisy, but it's a tavern, so noise is to be expected. However, we were not prepared for the long wait, as we ordered burgers.....not exactly complicated.....right? We waited....waited some more.....the waitress said our order would be out shortly, so we waited some more. We got up and left after waiting 40 minutes. I guess that makes us slow learners. We will not give them a second chance.

My guess is that Friday was their first real test of having a crowd. The time we went was not real busy and our food came out quickly. When the restaurant across from the entrance to the Weirs first opened (can't remember name - Lobster something) we had to wait an hour to get a table and then they said it would be an hour for food to come out of the kitchen. I think they figured it out as people seemed to like it. I hope the Tavern figures it out or the building will have yet another name on it.
