Eagle nest in Laconia?

Driving towards down town Laconia just past the prison on the left is a swampy area called Tardiff something or other.
People had pulled over and were looking thru glasses. When I looked up there was a very large nest with a very large bird sitting in it.
Looked an awfull lot like a bald eagle.

If it is an eagle's nest, that is great news. Maybe it's a young pair and they are getting it ready for next season. Hopefully someone else here might have more information about it.

Even though we are only up on weekends, we have seen a Bald Eagle flying over the northern end of Winnisquam on 3 separate occasions this spring.

If I can remember to put the binoculars in the car, I will check out the Tardiff area this weekend.

While I can't speak to that particular location (yet) I can confirm frequent sightings of eagles all around the Opeechee area. One day a few weeks ago I even saw one soaring down Union Avenue in the area of the Napa store. I nearly drove into a telephone pole! I'll check out the Tardiff Conservation Area in the next day or so and let you know what I find out.

We saw two young eagles eating something on a rock a couple of days ago. I shutter to think what it was. It was pretty big.

BR thanks for the tip. I drove by today and took some images. I posted one here. It is an Osprey nest.

They usually have eggs around the end of April. So, I suspect they have already had them. Usually two to four eggs. The eggs will hatch in in about four to five weeks. The chicks will fledge about fifty-five days after hatching.

I know this isn't "Winni" related... but I need the help of the "Winnie" bird people.

We just got back from Acadia National Park. While doing some "Long Lens" shots along the coast .I spotted this guy probably 400 yards offshore. This crop is the best I could get from such a distance. To the naked eye I thought I might have been looking at a Bald Eagle, (Common in Acadia National) but after I got home tonight and got the picture on the computer, it's clearly not an Eagle.

Any queses? I did an Image search via Google and didn't see anything that looked like this guy.

Not 100% certain but it looks like a male "Common Eider" in it's breeding feathers to me. This is a type of sea duck.

That's him! The head and beak are perfect match to the google image search I did for "Common Eider"

Osprey coming in for a landing today. For you camera gear heads out there. this was taken with a 300/2.8 + 2x TC + 1.4 TC, handheld, f/8, 1/800, with IS on. Taken from the road side.

Effective focal length: 840mm, with 1.3 focal factor yields 1092mm field of view.

Driving by with my wife on our motorcycles this past Friday I noticed that the nest is no longer there but there was a large bird perched in one of the tree's.

I noticed you are using teleconverters. I have been thinking of getting one but don't know much about them and when I read up it seems a bit daunting. Any advice?
