Default Roberts Cove/Plum Island

We anchored here on Sunday to swim. Saw a dock on Plum Island with a tent off the eastern side. Whats the story there? Does someone own the island?

I assume every island on the lake is owned by somebody.

Yes, private property. Also there is a floating loon nest just off the south side of the island (left side looking out toward the main part of the lake).

Is it ok to step on the island as there is no signage prohibiting it?

Looks like maybe it was purchased by Camp Brookwoods in 2000?

I reached out to the camp. They say the island is posted as No Trespassing.

Default Assume island property is privately owned

When in doubt, it's good to assume an island property is privately owned and not open to uninvited visitors. Just like the mainland. I believe - and someone please correct me if this is wrong - but there are a few island properties owned by entities and allow public or member access.

But there isn't much public access so again, assume it's private and you would be trespassing if you go on shore.

In New Hampshire, you are only trespassing if it is posted.
