Default Trolling help

I'm looking to start fishing the big lake for salmon and trout. What should I be using for rods? Length, action, line weight. Will mostly be trolling leadcore and planer board.

There are books written on the topic and hundreds of posts for directon but the shortest and best advise is: drop in and see AJ at AJs Bait and Tackle in Merideth. He will help set you up from rods, lines, lures and give you great local advice on speed and depth to run. If AJ can't put you on fish, nobody can.

I too am a first timer this year for salmon and trout. I agree that AJ's is a great source. But, check out Kittery Trading Post for the Eagle Claw lead core trolling combo. Locally you can pick them up for about $90. On KTP.com they are $44!!! I did buy one from AJ's becuase he gave me SO much help it was an easy $90 to spend.
