Default Bad Day at Mountain View Yacht Club

Like Ted Kennedy's Delmont 88, cars don't float!

Went in the water today.

At least it was a car this time, not the Mountain View fork lift!

I'm pretty sure this vehicle exceeds the legal length limit for I Dock...an email from the manager is on it's way!

That's what I was wondering. It looks like the car was on a car hauler or trailer of some sort. No boat involved?

That picture is on the way out, not the way in.

We were there just after. Apparently the driver pushed the accelerator intending to stop. When the car didn't stop, he pushed harder and the FWD climbed up and over the steel bulkhead ~10". I think two men in the car and two dogs. The men got out and a valet attendant jumped in, broke a window and got the dogs out. Nobody hurt. Hope that's accurate. The boat in the slip had just been moved. No damage to boats, docks or people. A minute or two earlier or 10-15 feet left or Right could have been a real catastrophe. People on C Dock, across from Valet put out their lawn chairs to watch the tow truck rescue.

Default Kudos

MVYC reacted promptly and well. Besides jumping in to save the dogs, as we were coming in from the lake, they stopped us and asked us to tie up at the guest dock. Special attendant tasked just for this, then offered a golf cart ride to the valet area where our car was parked. Wer went downtown and when we got back we drove to valet, where they had moved our boat from the guest dock to valet.
For those not familiar with MVYC the guest dock and valet are at opposite sides of a huge facility. Golf cars for staff are necessity and sometimes they give assistance to members. Irwin at MVYC does a great job and we love them for it.

It reminds me of this picture that I posted in our gallery back in 2002 (yikes!). Forum members of the time had fun captioning it in this thread on our old forum.
