Default Recommendation for lodging

I would like to get someone a gift certificate to a very nice resort or bed n breakfast on the lake. I would like something fairly upscale and somewhat romantic. I'm not looking for low cost budget. Since I don't know when they will use their gift, I would like something that has good year round activities, including winter. Does anyone have any recommendations. Thanks.

I don't know about Wolfeboro Inn, having never stayed there. The Inn at church Landing that others have recommended is wonderful and an excellent selection.

I have stayed at both. I'd say the Inn at Church Landing is a notch or two above the Wolfeboro Inn but the Wolfeboro Inn has certainly improved greatly over the past year. I prefer the town of Wolfeboro to Meredith (Wolfeboro is more quaint) but both Inn's are strategically located in nice resort towns. You probably can't go wrong with either property.

Default "upscale and romantic"

The Inns at Mill Falls in Meredith sound like what you are looking for. There are four Inns, all within walking distance to each other, but Church Landing best fits your criteria of being upscale and romantic. It has received the Traveler's Choice Award for being one of the top hotels in the country for relaxation and romance. Every month they have a "special" promotion of some kind. Your lucky friend !!! they'll love it.

You must have joined in First Night while you were there. Did you see the fireworks at 5:30 and midnight fireworks or attend any of the venues?
