Question New tower in Melvin Village

There is a brand new pole that just popped up in Melvin Village. Nothing on it yet, but looks like a cell tower. This would be a nice place for additional coverage for wireless broadband. Does anyone know what is going on that tower or who is putting it up?

If you are referring to the one on Prospect Hill, approved last year, the primary player is Nextel

Its true, Sprint merged with Nextel, but their technologies are not compatible, so they still appear to operate as two different companies.

Yup Nextel and Sprint opperate on different bands. From what I understand some of the new phones will work on both bands? The tower will no doubt get at minimum Sprint and Nextel. They will probably also rent space on the tower to other carriers.
