Default Lands End on Long Island?

Anyone have info, opinions, knowledge on the Lands End condo community on Long Island? I have interest in someday buying a condo near the lake.

We had looked at Lands End several years ago, were very nice, great location, the HOA fee was very high, not sure why. we settled on a cottage in laconia on the water.

We looked at a couple of places up there. Pros--Very nice development, a lot of common area, nice beach and docks. Cons--All the way at the end of Long Island so not real convenient (by car), high HOA fees.
